I am a first time mother recently. Not sure how to describe what I m going through now. I just feel that my body is very different. I am not talking about the appearance. I just feel very restricted deep inside. Stiffness in neck & shoulder and I am not breathing freely. I have gone for physiotherapy & chiropractic treatments, but none is giving me much relief. Anyone out there having the same experience or any relevant information to share?
Take care.. The confinement month is the best time for our bodies to recover..
I have gone for post- natal massage as part of getting back into shape. My tummy is reducing in size slowly. But this discomfort is still there. It is already 3 months. I m feeling quite stressed as I m going back to work soon. Hope this feeling will go away soon.
You have gone through 9 months of pregnancy, carrying the baby. When the weight is suddenly relieved, you may experience aches. For me, I had problems with my back after the first delivery. Took months to feel an improvement. After my 2nd delivery, I had problems with my knees. It will take a while for your body to readjust back, but you will probably never feel the same as before again.
It will help to do some exercises, to re-strengthen those muscles which can help reduce the aches.
Come across this site while doing some internet research. You may want to give it a try as the testimony mentioned a new mother with your same situation getting some relieve from the therapy.
I am a mother of two now. I do have the same symptoms as you before. Difficulty in breathing, neck, shoulder, back pain. I was admitted in A&E due to excruciated pain in my back/pelvic area which totally immobilized me. Possibility of being paralyzed hit me hard.
From CT scan and MRI scan, no diagnosis. Specialized doctor concluded that I may have scoliosis (curving of the spine) and could have injured some soft tissue/nerve in my pelvic area. Besides sending me for physio-treatment, another sound advice from them, not to do any exercise if still experience pain. Needless to say, months of physiotherapy or chiropractic do not solve my problem.
Currently I am seeking alternative treatment from Yoga therapy. www.yoga-balancingrocks.com
Guess what! The therapy has helped me to reduce the irritating pain from my hip area. My shoulder and back pain have improved tremendously. Most importantly I can regain some form of exercise, yet not straining my body. Breathing problem had stopped for a long time. I am still working out others knots in my body by regularly attend lessons with the knowledgeable instructor I really like how the instructor care to help individuals with good understanding of their existing issue. Do check out the website above. The studio is conducting a back_care class now.
Lots of bed rest whenever you can. Your body needs to recover from trauma. Yes, giving birth is beautiful but it is traumatic for your body (it's actually the most dangerous day of our lives!).
Hope you will feel better soon
