SO keep saying if dont give pacificer, the baby like deprive of childhood...
some say it affects the shape of mouth
some say it aids speech development as when they suckle, the muscle strengthen..
mummies, what are your take on this?
i gave dear son paci. cos i rather he suck on paci than his thumb...
i didn't give my 6 month old pacifier, it depends on what's your school of thought. it's proven that babies find sucking or putting something into their mouth comforting so it's either the pacifier or fist.
i find fist better cos no reliance on it, whenever he puts it in i say "no no" the i take it out n when he's ready for semi solids i give him biscuits. so now he's taking buscuits or his fingers when i'm not watching.
anyway i heard pacifier is bad for teeth development
why not? i gv pin since she was a few mths old. but i only stick it to nap time and sleep time.
unless during her teething time, i will give it to her more often to "chew".
when she falls aslp, she will spit it out automatically.
i rather that then she sucking her fingers.
she took it til arnd 2 yo.
but the frequency gets lesser as she grows older.
weaning her off only took me less than 2 weeks.
I give pacifier to my baby girl from 2 months old cos I will not be able to sleep. I even put her in sarong so that she can take her naps. Night-time I will transfer her back to cot. Recently, she needs both pacifier & sarong in order to nap. Sigh.. But when I go out, Imust bring along 2 pacifiers to give it to her in case she fusses when I shop which can be pretty embarrassing. Even in the car, we will give it to her when she fusses. Better to give pacifier than letting her suck her thumb which is more difficult to wean off. Many baby books actually recommend that we wean the child off pacifier before the age of one. It will not affect the child's teeth devt unless we let him/her suck pacificer throughout the day. Use it only when nec for eg during her fussing or before nap time.
for baber last time he hates the pacifier~~~
i only used it to force stop his cries.....and always fighting between spitting out and putting in lols~~~
if baby can kick the habit of having pacifier when they has outgrown it will be good coz i think the only prob of giving pacifier is that some kids will get too accustomed to it until they still asked for it when they are as old as like 2-3 years old and its hard to stop them.......
so for that reason actually i would prefer not to give......but since last time my boy hates it i donx face the prob of thinking how to kick off the habit
i weaned pin off the pacifier 2 mths ago.
method? learn from another mummy.
i asked her to throw away into the bin.
she did that, asked for it, n went to find it! she picked up from the bin, then tell me to wash for her.
so what i did? i made her throw into the rubbish chute!
when she asked from me the first few nights, i reminded her that she dumped it into the bin herself. n she rmbs, so after that she didnt ask for it anymore.
