Hello mummies , My ddaughter just turned 6 months , i have been giving her some bottle purree & bought brown rice cereal . She is going quite well now , know how to swallow them already . Recently my mother in law say she want to give her porriage , with meat , fish .. Is it okay with it ? Or should i start off with mashed carrot / vege first ? & can i know whether what food is suitable for 6 month old & what is not . My mother in law kept thinking that when my baby can eat , she will be able to eat everything . So i am worried bout it , & also how bout Kfc's mashed potato ? The whipped potato . There is seasoning inside right ? Headache ~ please help & thanks ..
as for kfc whipped potato, pls do NOT give!! you can always make the mashes potato on your own..
You can start introducing new foods to your dear daughter but rem the 4-day rule where you shld only introduce 1 new food at a time to chk for allergies.
Hold off feeding meat till after 8mths as their digestive system isn't quite able to handle it yet.
Try not to feed 'outside' food to baby below 1 year old as that usually contains salt/sugar/MSG and other additives which you dont't want to expose the young child to, so I would advise agst feeding KFC mashed potato.
You can refer to my blog for feeding matters if you like. I have been keeping record of what I've been feeding my dear daughter (she's 2yo already)...

Thanks mummy , no egg white too right ?
Anyway , my baby is drinking every 2-3 hr , sometimes can't finish , it is possible to replace cereal as a meal ? & how will i know if she is full , i feeding her healthy times brown rice cereal , she could eat up to 8 tablespoon & also around 100ml of milk , if i want her to have full feed how much tablespoon should i put ?
So other than 4 day interval to check whether she is allergies or not , what i need to take note ?
Oh yes , for those carrot can right ? Like soft & "smashed" then mix with the porridge .
What about fruits ? make into puree .. how to do it ?
Very anxious bout it ~ Afraid give wrong thing ~
It says 8 tablespoon but she is not full at all hmm but alright to replace meal with cereal ? I would prefer cereal too but mother in law insisted so i want to know the more safer way yeah .. Thanks !
8 tablespoon seems to be alot for a baby who just started weaning. if she is still hungry then you can give her some milk, or even mayb an hour later.. =)
for puree, i usually make it in bulk. e.g pumpkin puree, my mum will buy 1 pumpkin, or sometimes half. and i will chop it into small cues and steam them. steam about 10-15mins depending hw big/small the cubes of pumpkin is. and after that dump the cooked pumpkin into blended and blend it into puree. then i will scoop into ice cubes tray, cover with lids and send them into the fridge and freeze. after freezing, transfer the cubes of puree into freezer bag.
i got both my ice cube tray with lids & freezer bags from daiso. cheap and good! =)
since your baby just started weaning, and she is okay with cereal, you can go on to pumpkin, sweet potato, steamed apples, banana etc.. but do note that too much of banana and apples might cause constipation. banana dont need to steam, can just smash it and feed directly.
actually during the start, i seldom feed dear son puree. i just let him have plain cereal. only for porridge then i will add a cube of puree for abit of taste.. haha..
Thanks for all your information , it is really useful to me thank you thank you !!
