Do you rather enroll your 2 yr old to childcare programs
or do you choose brain enrichment lessons?
anyone can advise?
coz i'm a stay home mommy and i can attend my toddler but seems that she gets bored easily lately...and she seems can't focus well enough when i try to read or start a creative activity with her...
i think she need something to encourage her to 'grow' more..
Yup, agree with jxmummy. Since you're a SATM it would make more sense to enroll your child in enrichment / activity classes. CC will be expensive (you will only qualify for half subsidy). Plus, you will be lonely whole day without your baby around! Trust me, am on leave now cos dear son just started CC (only second day). Have been missing him since yesterday!
can info which playgroup you're choosing and how much is the fee? if you dont't mind sharing
so far i got price from The Little Skool House, (Junior tots) half a day cost $556.2, and a full day cost $716.5 ~all price after subsidy
but have not't found any good review about the school on the internet..
currently surfing around sgmummy and interested to enroll to Little Neuro Tree programs....but its a brain enrichment lesson..which is also good..but have not't ask for the price yet...
I enrolled her into Talentplus playgroup, if I didn't remember wrongly, sch fee is $135 per month, material fee is $95 for 6 months. I did hear some reviews from my neighbours, all commented not bad, so I enrolled first as they have limited seats per class.

pin is in LSH, and i m pretty pleased with this CC, it is a very popular CC n the waiting list can be up to 2 yrs. since you are a stay at home mum, you can enrol your child into enrichment classes, or PG. they usu last a couple of hours.
For CC, most ppl enrol cos they r working parents and no one can help tc of their kids. if you wanna put half day, then might as well not waste your money, might as well enrol into enrichment classes or PG.
since you're a stay at home mum, y wanna enrol your girl to CC? i rather you enrol her to playgrp or enrichment classes. cos at 2yo, she go CC, mainly is let the teacher take care and socialise with the kids. socialise part, she can do it is playground or enrichment class and at the same time, learn something..
My son started Kindermusik n then Julia n Gabriel n now playdays. We moved him to playdays cos it's nearer to our place n smaller ratio compared to j&g. It's a 1 1/2 hr accompanied prog n he will b moving on to the 3hr drop off prog end of oct.
Hi, i'm an experienced pre-school teacher now stay at home mum. My kids are both 4 and 8 yrs old now. I started doing playgroup style cum phonics teaching with them when they were 2/3 yrs old. Both started reading elementary books and able to spell many words by age 3.
Many parents sent their kids to phonics at the age of 4 and some kids at age 5 still unable to spell or read well. In fact, once a week phonics class is not enuf. At least 2 times a week is more effective. Giving toddlers early exposure to phonics with effective material and fun lesson plan is beneficial. My girl loves reading and without tuition and the need to do assessment book, she's the top scorer for English in P1. Her strong English foundation will not be possible if i did not expose her to phonics at an early age. There are many phonics material sold in bookstores and internet but many are not interesting. The one i have is used by a popular playgroup and my 2 kids love it and listen to it many times which is impt for their learning process.
Thus, I'm thinking of starting a training course to mothers who wants to learn how to teach phonics YOURSELF effectively. It's also good bonding time with your kids and with those who have more than 1 child, it's even better to do it together. you can bring yr kid along as long as they dont distract you. Lesson plan, CD and material will be included. I will teach hand actions on songs and rhymes as well as ideas on art and craft to make the whole teaching session meaningful.
Details as follows:-
- 6 to 8 week course
- 2 hours per SESSION, once a week
- Weekday morning except Thurs (pls state your preference)
- Time : 9.30 to 11.30 am (time can be adjusted)
- $50 per SESSION (including lesson plan and craft material)
- Phonics Book and CD to be purchase at $20/- per set.
- Location : Sembawang[/font]
This phonics course is basic phonics comprise of Consonants and Vowels. Suitable for children upto 4 yrs old.
Alternatively, if there's enough kids (5 of them), i'm keen to start a home based playgroup cum fun phonics for 2-3 yrs old with adult (caretaker) sit-in. 2 or 3 times per week.
