qn 1) how often shld i express the milk?
For me, initially the flow was slow, so about 3 to four hours then i realised my mistake...breast got "hard" and made me very uncomfy
qn 2) can i feed the baby str8 away after expressing the milk?
Yes you can, in fact, its like slightly lower than body temperature right?
but usually i pump when baby is sleeping...so when i m done pumping i keep in refrigerator
qn 3) after expressing, how long can i keep the milk for?
according to nurses, 48 hours in the fridge, then dont know like 6 months in freezer...
but i got so lil milk now, i dont even need 48 hours
qn 4) how much milk shld i express?
its not your choice, is how much you have!
qn 5) friend is lending me her breast pump, what accessories should i get?
spare bottles, sealing caps to cover the bottles while they are in the fridge...the nipple cover is not good enough...there is a sealing cap from tollyjoy...you can get from kiddypalace or this kiddy shop at Kandang Kerbau Hospital
qn 6) i think her brand is Medela, does that mean i can only use medela milk bottles?
Well, i am using the medela Swing model and i like it for the fact that it fits standard sized bottles....im sure you know there are like widenecks and stuff?
but if you want to keep in freezer, got special bottles..so you better check.
also, try asking for spare glass bottles from the nurses at the hospital to store your milk
the nurses use glassbottles to feed baby at nursery then throw away, you can ask for the glass bottle..then buy your own sealing caps
