Hi dear all mtbs/mummies,
Is it a must to get ear thermometer for our nb baby?
if so, what good brand of thermomter is good for them?
thanks alot for sharing
i bought a Braun one, quite ex though...
i've been using armpit thermometer for dear son cos it is more accurate. but very troublesome cos he tend to move around... cos for ear thermometer, 37.8 then is consider fever and not 37.5, have to take note of this if you r using a ear one for your baby =)
i have a braun thermoscan n a terumo axillary one. For nb it's good to use axillary one cos their ear canal is smaller thus may not b accurate 4 ear thermometer
I have a Braun ear thermometer and an Omron one. The Omron one is not very accurate. Agree with mummies that the armpit style thermometer is more accurate. My pediatrician clinic uses the stick in armpit kind. The disadvantage of the stick in armpit kind is that it takes a while to get the reading and when my son was 9 mths, using that is really pain as he keeps fidgetting and it's hard to hold him down.
The ear one is quick. Sometimes there's different readings from different ears due to ear wax. The temperature can differentiate up to 0.5 degrees. It was puzzling for me when dear son had a temperature of 37.8 in one ear and 37.3 in another. 37.8 = fever. 37.3 = no fever.
im using braun too.
if not you can get those for the forehead.
I have a Braun and a Cadii Ear/forehead thermometer. I dont't really use the forehead function, not very easy with a moving baby
I have a Braun thermometer but as what reginakoh as mentioned, i think the armpit style thermometer is more accurate. I use it to double check...
I use Terumo ear thermometer. Bought around $65?
i m using a braun as well... in fact this is the same one i m using...
i have another norm digital which can be used in the mouth, bumbum or armpit.. i think i got this frm guardian...
So many companies are vying the thermometer on the customer base.In which one of the best one is Digital Ear Thermometer
Im using the doreamon ear thermometer from Guardian.
Well, most of the pediatrician will recommand "Braun" (Range price $100 - 160 depend on model) I remember seeing in CK Tang selling 1 of the model about $100. Myself I am using both guardian brand & 1 that I bought on ebay (which is quite good been using since 3 yrs ago) you can check it out on eBay.com.sg: Hito Ear Thermometer 900016 (item 250695220518 end time Sep 18, 2010 16:03:32 SGT)
Btw, I dont't like the brand Ormon as I felt it is not so accurate ( i used to own 1, I sold off after less than a month).
Well, i think it's not easy to take temperature for NB so might be better to get the Thermoguard that is widely used by hospitals and pediatrician, cost around $120 if you buy directly from the company SIMBA (The Red Catalogue (Singapore), A Worldwide Industrial and Commercial Supply Company) and they deliver directly to your house at no cost.
