how old is he?
for me tats always the problem.
1) infant days - sing lullaby to him, he will focus deeply in my eyes and mouth then so focused till he tired then he doze off. But not always so smooth sailing ....some times he will cry and cry for god knows what reason.
2) toddler days - i will let him sleep around 9.30pm, we go into room together. He also climbed up and down, toss and turn....end up i slept before he did....he took 1 hour or more to fall asleep. Sometimes fell from bed even!!! Fell 3 times ...so heartpain...me sleepy mama....kekeke
i think the rocking is not recommended coz they will rely on rocking to sleep all the time. Coz everytime they are awake during light sleep they will fuss coz there is no more rocking. suggest you dont rock. Instead train him to sleep on his own. Depends on what age yrs is now. If still a baby you will anticipate crying for perhaps a week or so? But must tahan ....dont soft-heart. If urs is a toddler you can tell him there are monsters outside....you canx go out of bedroom alone. Tats what i tell my boy and he really believed till now.
my mother in law used to rock my boy to sleep during confinement. So she end up having to rock in the middle of the night and a few more times during the night....i took a whole 1 month to wean him off the rocking pattern.
its not easy at first but as sooon as you get the hang of it will be smooth sailing...to be bedtime is a habit more than anything...can be trained .
