Service managers plan and coordinate the activities of departments that offer services to the public or to other parts of an organization. They may be in charge of areas like community activities, food preparation and serving or administrative work.

Food service managers ensure the smooth running of restaurants and other establishments that prepare and serve food and drink to customers. They may hire, train, motivate and fire staff such as chefs, bartenders and servers, order supplies and handle paperwork from menus to alcoholic beverage licenses.
