When do your little child go to the kindergarten?

Many parents do it very early in our living place

i thought standard age for kindergarden is 4yo?

18mth onwards can go to playgrp...

i'm intending to send my boi to playgrp @ 18mths cos i am full time working mum, i dont have e luxury of teaching him....so have to pay $$ let other pple teach him ....n let him get to know more friends n social skills also....dont want him to bcome those 'loner' that dont know how to communicate with pple....

I sent my kids to playgroup when they're 2. Then followed by nursery 1 and nursery 2.

I think Kindergarten is at the age of 5.

nursery is when 4 yo. following by k1 - 5 yo & k2 - 6 yo. cheers~

For me.. Skye attended nursery class at the year of 4. And he's @ K1 now this year.

just curious is it a must to send child to nursery? DO they go there just to play n been take care or they get to learn thing just like kindergarten?

i think from k1 on is a must.. nursery is still a optional.. but nowaday parents usually send kid to the nursery 1st so they able to get use to sch life.. nursery is more on learning thru playing but they do learn on some ABC too.. While K1.. Learn on words & writing.. K2 more to writing & preparation to P1.

Think it depend where you send yr kid to Childcare or Kindergarten.. It actually quite diff I think..

mamasweety, y scared? your boi got all his immunisation already?

i now researching playgrps around my parent's area....still got 1yr to go before my boi can enrol in playgrp but we must know what to expect ....
have actualli shortlisted 2 liaoz....

they recommend start with twice a week class, each time 1.5hrs first...then slowly increase over e mths ....
they do learn alot of things if you go to a good centre....e one i'm eyeing has music program (something like kindermusik) integrated into their program....

then have alot of other activities that my maid cant do with my boi ....n they will learn psycho-motor skills....no choice i not home to teach, so let him go to school to learn ....

Kai started with playgroup from about 6months onwards with a couple of our friend's children about the same age. Each week, the mums take turn to host the group. When they are young, we do some card flashing, songs, and sign language.

By the time, they hit about one, we started with art & craft, children's yoga and we did some mini gymnastics exercise and also simple baking with mummies' help. We also do field trip during the Saturdays with families to farms.

We should on learning about different types of instruments, animals and stuff till we left for Canada. And over here, I also form some playgroup with some friends we made here and we do craft, writing and learning with the children together with games and cooking session once per week. And Kai also started to go to preschool.

So I think in Singapore,

About 6months to 1 year, there are some structured program for the toddler, like thought Gym, Shicida Method, etc. Even Montessori can be used for thought.

Then then proceed to all the way till 4, where they go for Nursery. There are also music program for 3 onward. Which we could not get it here.

And then 5 to 6, in either K1 or K2.

only Pri 1 is statutory 'must'. Kindergarten, some parents choose to homeschool too....

Both my gers were sent to attend playgroup in the yr they turned 3yo. Followed by nursery at 4yo, K1 at 5yo n K2 at 6yo.

In my opinion, the younger they attended sch they easier they get to adapt in the yrs to come. Playgroup, nursery, n kindergarten r not a must. But to self educate at home also means the kids won't b intro to group work n sharing. JMHO.

However, I do have a friend who did not send her ger to any of these sch. Instead she signed dear daughter up for individual courses she tinks r good for her dear daughter. Her dear daughter is doing well in P1 tis yr. She really puts in effort .

but about 3 yo can start to give them go play group .
