Just got retrenched (end Aug) when i return back to work after my maternity leave, have been searching for jobs all this while..

Felt so useless as i cant help to lessen my hubby burden, still gotta pay so much bills and debts every month..

I'm looking for a admin jobs in the central, north, north east or east area.. Anyone can help???

have you tried agencies?
cos they have jobs on hand n they will arrange the interviews for you.
admin job shld be easy to get.
there r quite a few like JAC, Kelly services.
maybe you can try there n meanwhile keep a look out yourself.

Did went for few interview but still no response..

my advice if you really cant get a perm, try out the temp & con't to look for perm. If you are lucky sometime the temp job company may employ you for full time.

yeah catty, some coys, they will employ on six mths contract basis. currently im also like that.
no choice, market not that good yet.
so you just take whichever first lohh, then later switch.

Oh...I didnt know they can still retrench when we are back from maternity leave.

Makes me worry what will happen when I return back after my ML.

Govt encourages us to have more kids but never encourage the employers to keep us...sigh....

I can said that i'm not the 1st person who went back to work after maternity leave and get retrenched, my friend mahjong khakis also like that.. Maybe when we on maternity leave, our boss tend to find some temp or contract basis to cover our duties and take this opportunity to hired that person if she dont mind a lower pay than us..

Employers can retrench us even during our maternity leave as long as they compensate us for the full maternity period and whatever notice in-lieu, if applicable. I think the law protects women from employers who try to "escape" from paying maternity leave (those who try to retrench preggies or mums on maternity leave). However, if company is willing to pay full for maternity leave based on the legal requirement, then govt cant stop them.

Catty, I think it's a good suggestion to try out contract/temp positions first. Will tide you over this period and you can continue to look for something else. Wish you good luck!

Perhaps send your resume to as many agencies as possible.

Just found out that a friend of mine also got retrenched after returning from maternity leave. Really makes me kind of worry since I will return to work in a month's time.

Lately my company has been asking me to come back for some discussion for 2 separate occassion. Even if i am reluctant, I also have to go just in case they mark me later. Sigh....
