You can put father's name on baby's birth cert. But you will not be entitled to baby bonus at all.

Re: Giving birth before getting married

you can include father's name in birthcert, just need to take an oath.
but as for baby bonus, if im not wrong, that time i heard, if you marry within 6 yrs n declare, then can be entitled to it.
maybe you wanna call them up n check?
cos i know the eligibility is the mum must be lawfully married to the father.
i think you shld call them up n clear all doubts.
if cant, then try to push forward the ROM.

Hi Ting,

have to take oath to include father's name ...then can I still do it @ the hospital when I register the birth cert or have to go down to ICA?

I think you need to go to ICA, because hospital can only help you to register if you can provide them the marriage cert.

Re: Giving birth before getting married

Yes, you can still include father's name, as for baby bonus, you can appeal after ROM at MCYS and mostly is no pro.
Maternity leave may be the real pro, coz single mum will not be entitled to 16 weeks.

joeichen,

Thanks for the advice. I read online that single mums are entitled to 2months of maternity leave and subsequently if I rom before my baby turns 1 year old, I can claim the balance 2 months. (Mummies with similar experience, pls correct me if I'm wrong)

What you are asking, I have been through. My daughter was born on May 2008. But ROM is on 1 Sept 2008.

In order to include father's name, my husband and I went down to ICA during my confinement period. Both of us take a vow saying that my husband is the REAL dad. This can only be done in ICA.

For the vow, no additional charges for it.

Hope this does help you.

Hi Hui ru 88,

So you did the birth cert registration @ ICA together with hubby within 14days frm baby's birth?

Any documents to bring down? Or any thing I have to take note?

TIA

As to the registration of the birth of baby, it is the same number of days as the others.

For my case, I did the registration when my daughter was 12 days old.

Whatever documents the hospital give you, bring it down. Example: birth cert written by your gynae, health booklet and others available documents (forgotten other documents as it was more than a yr ago. Sorry about it). After all, no harm bringing more documents than realising you have forgotten to take one document.

Hope this information does help you.

Thanks for the info on birth cert registration.
By the way about the maternity leave, when you gave birth last year you were entitled 2months since you have not ROM-ed, correct? Just want to make sure I interpret the info on web correctly.

Frankly speaking, I am not sure about it. The reason for it is that I only step into the working society 2 months after delivery. Before that, my husband dont allow me to work.

Besides that, I only work for 3 months and afterwhich, I took up a diploma full time course.

Sorry as I cant help you in this area.
