I'm a working mother of two aged 2 and 5. Just divorced with sole custody, care n control.
HDB won't let me have rental housing because my income exceeds 1500. Sigh. I am earning 1800 nett.
Tried to rent a room, all responses are negative. Just because of kids factor.
Right now live with sis but her kids are getting annoyed from not getting attention. dont't think can tahan for long.
you might want to try renting from HDB or approach your MP to see if they can match you with some other similar parents.
understand your situation.
maybe try to talk to your boss if you can lower your salary to meet the HDB citeria first, then after you get the flat, reverse back to the original pay?
i think if your boss understand your situation, should be able to help.
if you go to MP, you must prepare at least past 3 months expenditure records, explain to them even though you are getting a 1.8, but the money you had is been used up in these areas, and you really have no means to rent from open market. HDB will tell you to stay with family etc, then you got to explain your situation on why you cannot stay with them.
tell them you have no means to buy resale flat.
since you have sole custody, if you can get rental flat direct from them, tell them you will get BTO, you r not going to stay in the rental flat all your life.
cos if you can get it, after 2 years renewal of tenancy, HDB will come up with a special plan for you to buy a 2 room flat BTO at a special subsidy.
so hang on, im sure they will grant you a rental flat.
