My dear daughter is 3 mths old. She has not lifted her head in a steady manner.
Her neck skinfolds are very red. According to the pediatrician he just said it will go off when her head is steady. I tried using Agnesia ( for infant) powder. There was some improvement but later it came back.
Some of my relatives told me to apply drapolene, others told me to apply lotion ..
Anyone whose baby had the same problem? What did you do to alleviate it?
Was there success/ improvement?
Try to keep the area dry by applying a little bit of baby powder
You can put drapolene on the neck area or calomine lotion both helps.....it could be due to the recent hot weather, my son also recently had a bad case of rashes, so I put powder on him, you can get those "cooling" powder from medical hall.....but before you purchase make sure you ask whether it is suitable to use for younger baby's, tht time i ask and he recommend me one which is quite good, so far no rashes on neck.....
Or you can try to sleep in air-con, so tht your daughter won't feel the heat......
My son had this when he was in an infant.
I tried the following:
- wipe dry regularly -> resulted in abrasion
- put powder -> ended up with a crusty neck
- put drapolene -> no effect and messy
- put diaper rash cream (Goat's milk diaper rash cream from Canada) -> rash dried up n disappeared in around 3 days. he's 2yo now n we r still applying it cos he's very prone to rashes during hot weather.
My boy have those rashes when the weather is hot . I try this
Avene Cicalfate "creme reparatrice antibaterienne.
Is good but expensive.
mosquito bite also useful.
You can try "Angel Baby Bottom Balm" from Moms Essentials (outlets at KK Hospital, Suntec, United Square). Though it's a diaper cream, it also works very well for rashes, scratches, insect bites etc. It has worked like a charm for my baby (he also had rash on his neck) and friends' babies. Hubby calls it 'the miracle cream' coz it's wonderfully multi-purpose!
my girl's neck skinfold is white! lol.
try not to apply powder for your baby cos talc can irritate their sensitive air passage ways. In fact, powder can worsen the problem cos it will rub against baby's sensitive skin. My confinement lady tried to scare me into using powder for my baby, but all i do now is to keep dear daughter dry and clean by making sure she doesn't perspire too much, and by wiping her often.
Keeping the area dry and clean should solve the prob.
ya i never apply powder for my girl
If all else fails to do the job, you may give Renew Cream a try.
It has a calming, moisturizing touch leaving the skin significantly softer, smoother, more moisturized and healthier. It is also used as a Skin Therapy for eczema. Could use it to treat nappy rash as well.
My twins also have this problem, super red at the neck. What I do is to keep it very dry after bath. Then apply California Baby's calendular cream. Works like magic, the next day, the red patch is gone. Now, occasionally i just put the cream on the fold after bath. Remember, must blow dry the area after applying cream too. I never apply powder.
Other than putting diaper rash cream, you can try keeping the area clean & dry. You can also try non-allergic moisturisers.
I always use diaper rash creams for my son as it's cheap & helps to heal the skin very quickly
My pediatrician advise dont use powder, he give me a Neoderm cream, but cannot always put cos bery strong, we use only when the rashes bery jialat, if not we use a body cream by mustela - Stelartia Dermo - repairing care cream $22 aso recommend by my pediatrician, now his rashes almost clear. We just know only his clinic kinder clinic - Gleneagles carries this cream, as we just went to kiddy palace and can't find it.

Btw, I do use powder for my son as it helps to absorb sweat. But it's non-talc organic baby powder from US. Different from the normal baby powder.
