My girl is turning 1 year old next month and we are still thinking of whether to give her the chickenpox vacc as we have heard mixed review on it.
After hearing from other mummies, i also decide to let my daughter take it.
pin had the chix pox vaccination.
for the older gens, they would prefer the kids to get it.
but imo, after listening to my doc's advise i went ahead to let pin take it.
cos, i had chix pox before when i was younger, n it wasnt a thrill with heavy heads n itchy blisters all over my body n face, not to mention having to eat plain pork porridge for 2 weeks. n also feeling weak all over.
it also affects the adults, you n your hubby may need to take 2 weeks leave (at least) to look after your child. have to keep a lookout over the night n make sure the temp is down. have to deal with a grouchy n grumpy kid n also exposed to the virus.
to me, it is just very taxing on both the adults n kid, so why let all suffer together?
although the it is not 100% preventable, at least it will not be full blown if by any chance (touchwood) your child gets it.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
My girl take. In fact, I sign her up to take all vaccinations. No major problems so far.
This is a blog entry from a doctor regarding chicken pox:
Karri Family Clinic Tampines: Chickenpox
My boy also took the chicken pox vaccine
i had actually decided not to let my girl take the chicken pox vaccine but now i got to reconsider hehe
My daughter just take her mmr jab at 17 months, her booster jab is next month.. When can i give her the chickenpox jab? Thanks
She is having her fever after the mmr jab.. Hm.. i didn't want her to take the mmrv jab coz i was worried her body can't cope? Btw, just take chickenpox jab for 1 time right?
chix pox is one jab only. i took it seperately as per doc advised.
actually its up to individual, doesnt matter if take together or seperate.
some parents prefer to take it together cos their kids cant handle jabs, wil cry n fuss. but for pin, she never once cried when taking jab, so i let her take it seperately.
Chicken pox is 2 doses for children now. Years ago, 1 dose was the recommended dosage but recently, the guideline was revised. The clinic called up and asked us to send my 7yo back for the 2nd dose.
Do you have any idea is the 2nd dose a compulsory one?
I was kind of apprehensive at 1st but after listening to some advice from 3 drs. I decided it's a good idea to vaccinate my daughter becuz it not only guards from chix pox but smth else that is more serious which is shingles.. So my baby will be getting her jab next month.. =)
woooo, my doc never inform me lehs. =X
i go ask again.. LOL~
