Hi experienced mummy
I need some advice... last week my boy caught a cold(from me), he got running nose and kept sneezing. took him to a gp, and given flu, fever and cough(open airway) syrup. after taking flu syrup for 2 day, no more running nose. but his breathing is like alot of thick mucus inside the nose. once or twice he'd cry and the mucus came out is those yellow thick one. is it normal to be like that? now after a week, we can still hear those mucus like sound when he's breathing hard. my ques, should i continue giving him the flu medicine? or is it phlegm? he's also having dry cough, sometimes cough till wanna vomit. should i continue giving him the cough syrup?
abit worried cause this is the first time he's sick..sorry for my silly ques...
If after a week the phlegm is still quite thick, think you better bring him back to the same pediatrician and do a follow up....could change the medication for you.
Either tht, you could try sucking out the phlegm, try to cook barley drink for him
Go Hock Hua buy Chuan Bei, buy the good ones. It will dissove the Phlegm or even cough it out.
Cold to baby and is very dangerous if proper care is not taken then it can cause pneumonia. So it suggest you to give you baby a spoon of mixture of brandy and honey that will give quick effect. Also you can give you child hot honey milk after eating Tulsi leaves.
For phlegmy cough, you might want to try children's version if Hou Zao San from traditional chinese medicine. It's a smaller dosage.
chillaxville > how's your son? ok already? cough n flu better dont anyhow treat cos it may lead to more serious illness. so d best is bring him to c reputable pediatrician instead of GP. though more exp but d med r much more effective.
Not sure how old is yr kid but my advice if you can try to go to a pediatrician if child is below 1 yrs old as the medicine given by the GP will not be suitable for kid below 1 yrs old.
Are you sure brandy for kid? ........
can you list the chinese name out for me, i would like to try it out the next time when my boy has cough. Thanks.
Sounds like your son might need antibiotics if he still hasn't recovered.
as for brandy, can babies take alcohol?
no offence, but if is me, i wont dare to take the risk, though it might really works. if my son is really so ill, i would rather bring him down to the doctor again. =)
** double post **
I'd advise against self-medication, especially when it involves alcohol, honey, and herbs because you may never know what can happen. In fact, if you go to TMCs, they'll tell you that herbs are not suitable for babies below 2 yo and that you should go see a doc!
Hm, looking at the content of your other four posts and your signature (this is the same for rooshidavid), I do wonder about your intentions on posting in this forum.

No brandy and honey pls!!! It will do more harm than good. Pls bring baby to see doc again. Cold and Flu and young baby are no joke.
If just phlegm, pearl powder are pretty good. Whenever dear son got phlegm I give some pearl powder to him.
