my boy has diaper rash again, 2 weeks back he has the rash but recovered after i applied dapolene cos due to mother in law used other brand diaper. this morning when i changed diaper for him, i noticed that the rash came back again, is on his genital area, the folds of the thighs and the buttocks & its so red!
other then apply dapolene, what can i do to prevent diaper rash on him? he's currently using petpet & momy poko.
I used drapolene before, but the infant care teachers told us to use desitin, hence, we have been using desitin .....and so far he never had diaper rash
Diaper rash normally is caused when we dont change our son's diaper in time....when he poo
Desitin has two kinds, the waterproof one and the normal one.....the waterproof one is the purple packaging, while the normal one is blue color
try desitin cream, is VERY GOOD!!. even my pediatrician's clinic sell that brand.
dear son has very red butt when he was only 3-4weeks old.. used GAIA which my hubby's aunt claim is very good for naapy rash but also no use but once i switch to desitin, within 2 days, red butt all gone! till now, dear son is still using desitin =)
my son's butt also abit reddish and i use desitin blue one.. it's abit hassle to spread it as it's thick and use only abit else can be messy.. but the redness disappear within 2-3application, it's really good!!
dear son is using desitin creamy. i think should be the blue one?? nowadays outside mostly sell creamy one, i seldom see original.. last time kiddy palace dont carry this brand but recently they have alrdy but in 2oz tube..
you may want to go Unity to get it. the 4oz one only cost $16++ while the 2oz one is around $12 alrdy... =)
Some babies like my boy have sensitive skin that are easily prone to rashes when skin gets in contact with the chemicals in disposable diapers. My boy has been cloth-diapered since birth, even the occasional disposable could cause his bums to turn red. We used Bepanthen ointment on him.
He's on cloth diapers 100% of the time now and has been rash-free. No more nappy cream needed.
Modern cloth diapers are as easy to use as disposables and conveniently machine-washed. Hope you find this useful.

I swear by Desitin (blue tube). Try to buy it online which is cheaper .. I bought mine for only $12 inclusive of postage. I believe there is someone out there in this forum who sells Desitin?
yes agreed, nth to do with brand, most impt change the diaper frequently.
esp baby is young, they drink alot of milk so tend to urinate more.
I also used Desitin. I bought mine from Ebay. Cheaper.
Use the blue tube one (Desitin Creamy). I only use the purple tube one when his diaper rash is very severe.
Sometimes Guardian will sell Desitin. Not all and soemtimes they run out.
I also tried SebaMed Diaper Cream. It's not bad also.
Desitin is quite thick so sometimes it's abit hard to come off so dont't be alarmed. Usually during shower, it will come off. If you're using cotton wool and water to clean rather than wet wipes, the cream will also come off more easily.
my son also having diaper rash at the bum but i noticed there's something popping out like a big acne around the anus. hmm what's that?
Does the bump look pus-sy?
My boy had one like that. It wasn't pus-sy so the pediatrician didn't say anything. I think if it has pus, you should go see a doctor. Pus usually is a sign of infection.
Hi iwan2noe mummy,
It depends on what you want.....for me I bought the purple color one cos' it is waterproof, after pee still can see the desitin
But the blue one, after pee, the desitin no more oredi.....
Maybe you wanna switch to Desitin and see how? Desitin is somewhat drying... Hopefully it will dry up that bump. Maybe use the blue tube one? Blue tube not as concentrated as purple tube.
I used none of those above but my family uses Savalon antiseptic cream. So far been using it for my baby and never ever had any problems. Only after the first instance used Savalon alright already. But then again, we make it a point to change her diaper every 3-4hours. And if its the mamy poko value, every 2hrs cos she likes to drink water so wee alot. She is 10mths btw.
use the blue one (Desitin) please...the purple one has got cod liver oil in it...i dont't like the smell...
anyway if you dont't mind i have a tube of the purple one...dont't mind giving it to you cos i hardly use it because of the smell...
can PM me if you like
