Hi. The hum bin thingy is also known as over stimulated. When they play too much in the day their body tired in sleep mode when sleeping but mind still awake. Just like us adults. But we wont cry cos of dreams. I donno if babies dream. But scientifically, when minds is not at rest in sleep, the sub conscious or something will still be working.
I think cos yr mum is the main caregiver. So when yr baby cry in the night in half sleep half awake mode, only yr mum can comfort him. Cos he is use to her smell n feel. The way she carry her n all. When he is in that halfsleep mode he is only half awake, so he uses mainly feel instead of seeing who's carrying him. you can either let it continue like that, or try to let him get use to you by taking over at night.
Some kids will progress backwards, like learn fast then suddenly stopped or 'forgetting' what he learnt n not do it anymore. Theres a term for this but i cant rmb. Read about it in babycentre. This prob, you have to observe how serious it is. If its only like stop progressing, cld b a change in his daily life (in yr case moving into new house). If it is progressing backwards seriously like achieving a milestone eg crawling, then not doing it anymore. Try to crawl but unable to. That kind of thing, then its best you bring him to a proper pediatrician. If he just started, since you just moved, mayb you wanna observe him for another one or two weeks?
Again, the sudden crying in the middle of the night, cld b caused by the moving house too. Put aside spiritual explanation. Mayb you wanna try doing logical things first. As he is older, his mind progress to 'know' more. So when he is very happy n active playimg in the day, absorbing many things, his mind mayb overwhelmed n unable to tune down when its bedtime. Prolly can get yr mum to set up a routine. So that his days r more expected. He knows when its mealtime bathtime playtime sleeptime. Whrn he is able to expect whats gonna come, eg. After bath its story telling then sleep. After meal its playtime then what. That kind of thing. He wld b able to know when its sleeptime. Also, reduce play when its nearing sleeptime. What time do you reach hm from work? If its normal officehour like 5-6pm finish work 7pm reach hm. you can let yr mum shower him at around 7pm. When you r hm send him to the room dim the lights n do some light activity. I rmb when my boy were lil, though many encourage storytelling. But i do my bonding time before sleep. Pick him from infant care reach hm bath him n lock ourself in the room n just talk to him. Play peekaboo etc. For like thirty mins no interruption from other family members just me n him. Or even let him crawl around the room n me just continue talking n talking. After that then its time to sleep. Just something that you can do daily so that he knows its time to sleep.
Hope this helps!
