Wondering if you can share how you feed your kid with medicine. I was trying to apply some Eu Yan Sang Pak Poh San on my son's gums as adviced by the sales personnels and my relatives, but son used his saliva to push everything out.... any good idea on how to feed it in?? Thanks!
Hmmm normally for those med powder type, just use the finger like what apollo mummy says.....to just rub it on the gum...
But personally, I would not feed chinese med to my son below 1 yrs old, cos' chinese med normally contains lots of other herbs, so if my son were allergic to it....I would not know
Actually yup I was wondering y feeding Chinese medicine.. For me if I were to start any medications on my son I wld only do it after I truly understand the indication for it, if baby is unwell I'll bring to the pediatrician or assessment before Anthony is given unless it's regular flu n cough.. Sales person n Advice from people r so common but not the same thing works for everyone
Actually I'm feeding him that coz it was supposed to help him 压惊. There was renovation going on at the unit directly below where we are on Friday and I think he got a shock with all the drillings. Brought him out of the house and went back to my mum's place eventually but he kept giving sharp cries after waking several times in an hour. He got better now but the sharp cry continues though better..
I'M not sure how the medicine will help but I guess if it's shock then they take time to resettle down again.. Have you tried switching on some soft music while baby sleeps n put baby tummy down when sleeping? My son was a light sleeper when he was little until he slept tummy down
It is by trial and error actually on how we handle our son.......
I did not feed my son with chinese meds until he was 2yo. Their kidneys and liver are still immature and cannot process the herbs in chinese meds.
Med for 'fright' (jing feng san, etc) - does it really work? Angmohs also dont use them?
The best way is to snuggle them up tightly. Even if they get a shock, it will be once or twice. They will get used to it after a while.
While I was doing my confinement, my mum's place got major reno to the carpark. Everyday they are banging away, super loud. But who cares? My boy sleeps through the noise and even when my dog barks, he still sleep through. Not affected at all.
Babies are very adaptive.
BTW, I know of someone who believes in all these traditional meds. She gave her son since 1 week old (listen to those old ppl) and her son is now 5yo and has kidney probs (loss around 40% function of normal kidneys). She totally regret giving him those chinese meds. Now the kidney prob will remain with her son for the rest of his life. Kidneys cannot regenerate new cells like liver, so it can never be healed.
Empty vessels make the most noise
She told me she did not give daily. She give around twice to thrice a week. She say the powder to prevent them from getting a fright one she give a small bit daily until 6mths old. She say her grandma told her can do that.
Then when her boy started solid food, they always cook those herbal soup for him to 'bu'. Too much already. Now got problem then start to regret.
Wow 1 week old is too young already, yeah I agree with you stonston.....now regret also no use .....
If your son is only 2mths old I would strongly suggest that you stop all these as their liver are not still not matured enough to fully function why would you want to over stress it?
