He has been rejecting his milk for the last 2 months, as in he's taking no more than 300ml a day now (used to take as much as 1 litre a day) ... so he's still hovering around 8kg +/- 500g during the said period.
Have introduced him to semi-solids ... but he's shown a very pronounced preference for steamed/mashed pumpkin & sweet potatoes, over cereal.
OMG ... cannot every meal also give him pumpkin & sweet potato, right?
As a result, Siggi is no longer a giant ...
I've actually seen many premature babies being underweight when born ... but go on to be very cute & chubby babies.Originally Posted by liang`jia
Actually, this is a real wonder of life: survival instinct ... they will just automatically wanna take in more, initially to get over the underweight ... but susequently, just to sustain their stretched appetite.
Whatever the case, let them eat while they still want to.
dont end up like my case ... wanna feed also he reject.
my little dear son is now 14 weeks, weighed 8.1kg, ht at around 65cm.... he looks chubby, but i'm very sad and worried cos he has got bronchiolitis for the 2nd time in 2 months .... feel like i've not beeen doing a good job to take care of him....
my baby girl is 2 months n weighs 6.6kg... and is 61cm long... doc always commenting on EVERY visit.. she is doubling her birth weight.. ( at birth 3.5kg) normally baby double birth weight at 6 mths......!! sometimes he makes me really worried if my baby is way overweight...
They will slow down after some months.Originally Posted by jojoki

He started rejecting milk when he was 4plus months old ... dropping an original 1000ml intake to 400ml ... & eventually 250ml, just before he turned 6 months old.Originally Posted by *cynn.89llaluby
As an alternative, we started introducing rice cereal to him when he just turned 5 months old ... in the beginning, he was ok but within a week, he started to spit out the cereal whenever he's not in the mood.
We then embarked on semi-solids ... like pumpkin & sweet potato steamed, banana & papaya scraped ... still, it depends on whether he's in the mood for food or not. But when he gets hungry, he really gulps down his food including his milk!!
I'm definitely an advocate for breast milk ... so much so that I even brought my wife to Jacqui's place, when she disclosed in NOC that she was facing problem producing the desired amount of breastmilk.Originally Posted by *cynn.89llaluby
I am so involved in parenthood, also becoz I see my wife contributing so so much in her role as the "milking cow" for both my boys. When her breasts are filled full with the breast milk, there is pain ... when my lazy boys dont clear those milk & she has to express, there is more pain ... when she wants to stock up on the breast milk (filling up half the freezer of my big big fridge) & she has to express, there is again pain ... when she gets so stressed from work & has her milk ducts blocked, she has even more pain ... so, I respect the sacrifices my wife has made to fulfill her role as the "milking cow".
However, as far as this forum is concerned, I'll only opportunistically expressed my encouragements for breastfeeding mummies ... even giving tips on how to eat well for maximal milk production.
But dont expect me to be advising the mummies on how to get their babies to suckle correctly etc .
at birth :4.525kg

5 months: 9 kg
now 8 months: 12 kg
Wow..I am getting abit worried. My baby girl was born at 38weeks at 2.8kg from c-sec due to breech and the last weigh at 2mnths was at 4.6kg...Is she small for her age?her height was 52cm..
She only takes breast milk but her formula nowadays does not take more than 100ml..I am worried..
