MR BALASUBRAMANIAM Nadarajan was going to meet one of his best friends to discuss a relationship problem on Sunday night.

The 24-year-old never made it. His friend of more than 10 years was left waiting, until he got a call telling him that Mr Balasubramaniam had died in a road accident.

Mr Vasan Omarsangar, 25, said: 'He called me at seven-plus to say that he wanted to talk to me personally about a girl problem.' But Mr Vasan never got to see his friend again.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officer was driving a woman back to her home in Woodlands at 8.30pm when he lost control of his car.
The vehicle mounted a kerb, then veered left, spun and collided with a tree along Admiralty Road West.

The Mitsubishi Lancer was almost severed in two, and it took Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers 20 minutes to extricate the trapped driver and passenger from the mangled wreck.
