THREE recently promoted government office holders have been sworn in to their new positions. They received their instruments of appointment from President S R Nathan at the Istana yesterday.
The trio are: Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts Lui Tuck Yew, Minister of State for the Environment and Water Resources Amy Khor, and Minister of State for Education and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli.
All three previously held positions in the same ministries. Mr Lui, 49, was Acting Minister, a post he had held since April last year.
Dr Khor, 52, had been the Senior Parliamentary Secretary in the Environment and Water Resources Ministry since 2006.
Mr Masagos, 47, was appointed Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education in 2006, and had held the same post in Home Affairs since 2008.
Their promotions, which took effect on Nov 1, were part of wider changes in Cabinet and government appointments announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong last month. The changes are seen as part of the process of political renewal.
