MANILA - PHILIPPINE budget carrier Cebu Pacific on Sunday said a birdstrike had grounded one of its passenger jets, delaying six domestic and international flights.

Cebu apologised for the delays, but said safety remained a priority.

'There will be some delays today caused by a birdstrike on one... aircraft, which now requires additional servicing,' the airline said in an advisory.

It did not provide further details, but a spokesman said a 'birdstrike' meant a bird hitting part of the aircraft, usually the cockpit windshield or an engine, posing a safety risk.
