BEIJING - A CANADIAN climber has gone missing near the summit of a 6,070m mountain in south-western China, where bad weather has forced rescuers to suspend their search, state media said on Saturday.

Dusan Pokorvnv disappeared on Oct 16 near the top of Mount Tianhaizi in Sichuan province. A 10-member rescue team started searching for him on Monday, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

A helicopter was also dispatched on Friday but the climber was not found, it added.

Rescuers have now decided to suspend search operations because of bad weather, the report quoted the provincial outdoor sports association as saying.
