THE Housing Board, Keppel Singmarine and NTUC Income were honoured at the Istana yesterday for their support of the Community Chest.

President S R Nathan presented them with the Pinnacle Award, the top honour given by ComChest - the fund-raising arm of the National Council of Social Service - to those who have made significant contributions for at least 20 years or given more than $20 million.

All three organisations have been maintaining a high staff participation rate in the Share programme, under which individuals make monthly donations to ComChest from their salary.

About 90 per cent of the staff in each of their organisations do so now. They have also organised activities for beneficiaries of charities supported by ComChest or to fund-raise for ComChest.

In total, 119 awards were presented to 106 recipients at yesterday's ceremony. Among other award recipients was SingTel, which received the Corporate Platinum Award for donations and the Special Events Platinum Award. It helped raise $2 million for ComChest last year through its SingTel Touching Lives Fund.
