SEREMBAN - MALAYSIA'S biggest Chinese political party has expressed concern over the increasing number of 'free tours' busing Malaysians to casinos in Singapore in recent months.

Datuk Wee Ka Siong, Youth chief of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), said he was initially under the impression that such tours were organised only from Johor. But he has since been told that they are also available in Penang.

'We are not against gambling, but it should not be done in such a manner,' he told reporters after opening the annual meeting of the Federation of Malaysia Hawkers Association in Seremban, the capital of Negeri Sembilan.

Previous reports said daily Johor bus tours take Malaysians to the Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands integrated resorts.

Dr Wee called such tours a 'serious problem', and said the federation members had tabled a motion seeking the Malaysian government's help to stop them.

The federation, with 70 affiliates, has more than 100,000 members nationwide.
