GUSTY winds snapped large trees, causing traffic disruptions along Yio Chu Kang Road and Serangoon North Avenue 1 late on Friday afternoon.
At least one bus, a Service 147, was hit by a falling branch, injuring passengers. A female passenger in her forties suffered redness of face and had to be sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital in an ambulance, said a Civil Defence spokesman.
Some trees also hit private houses along Yio Chu Kang Road. Residents in the area said several parked cars had also been hit by the falling trees.
By 6.30pm, the traffic resumed along Yio Chu Kang Road, but was still slow moving.
Along Serangoon North Avenue 1, police had to direct traffic as some lanes remained clogged. Some residents also pitched in to help move a larger fallen branch off the road.
One lamp post was dislodged from the ground by cables that were caught by the falling branches.
The National Environment Agency had earlier on Friday warned of heavy showers, thunder and gusty winds between 4.30pm and 6 pm.
