THE police have dubbed him the 'Heartbeat Molester', and after lying low for seven years, he may be back on the prowl.

He targets young girls who are alone at void decks and lift landings.

He will pretend to be lost and ask the girl for directions. When she agrees to help, he will lead her to a secluded staircase landing and say he needs to rest because he has a weak heart. When they are seated, he will take her hand, slip it under his shirt and place it on his chest, on the pretext of letting her feel his heartbeat.

He might guide her hand from his chest to other parts of his body, or try to touch her body. While most of the girls would have run away by then, there have been at least three cases when he violated their private parts.

The police yesterday released details of a serial molester believed to be linked to at least 20 cases of outrage of modesty dating back to 1999. His victims were girls usually aged between eight and 12, and the cases occurred in the north-eastern part of the island in estates like Sengkang, Punggol and Hougang. They took place mostly on weekdays between 12.30pm and 4.30pm.

Those who have information on the man in the CCTV images may call the police hotline on 1800-255-0000. All details will be kept strictly confidential.
