MUAR - ELEVEN health clinics in Muar registered a 100 per cent increase in patients with respiratory problems due to the haze.

Muar District Health Department senior officer, Dr Zulkifli Othman said 298 patients received treatment on Monday, 307 on Tuesday and the number increased to 356 on Thursday.

'It is a sharp increase compared with the 162 patients who sought treatment last Monday, 127 on Tuesday, and 172 on Wednesday,' he told reporters at the Muar Haze operations room here on Thursday.

Dr Zulkifli said the increase was attributed to the haze since early this week.
He also urged the public to avoid outdoor activities because Air Pollutant Index (API) between 101 to 200 was unhealthy, especially to senior citizens, children and those with respiratory problems.

'Those who encounter difficulty in breathing should quickly see a doctor,'he said.
