THE Singapore Government said on Saturday that it will provide a contribution of US$50,000 (S$64,695) worth of humanitarian assistance packages for relief efforts in Indonesia's twin disasters.

The Government will provide US$25,000 through the Singapore Red Cross and another US$25,000 for Mercy Relief to support the humanitarian efforts for the Mentawai Islands tsunami and Mount Merapi eruption, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said.

The Government will continue to monitor the situation closely, MFA said.
