THE Singapore Customs on Saturday launched the first of a series of 25 roadshows for its latest public outreach campaign, dont't Get Burnt, at Causeway Point in Woodlands.

A roving truck with the campaign's iconic burn mark was one of the highlights, as the public watched it manually transform into a mobile roadshow stage.

The campaign aims to create awareness among the public about the penalties and consequences associated with buying, selling and/or possessing contraband cigarettes that do not bear the Singapore Duty-Paid Cigarette marking.

Offenders caught in possession can be fined a minimum of $500 a packet, or jailed for distribution of illegal cigarettes.
