JAKARTA - INDONESIAN President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono flew back to Hanoi for an Asean summit on Friday after hurriedly leaving Vietnam to visit victims of a devastating tsunami off Indonesia's Sumatra island.

Dr Yudhoyono returned to the summit a day after visiting the Mentawai islands, where around 400 people were killed when an undersea earthquake triggered a tsunami on Monday.

'There are several agendas there that the head of the country will follow,' presidential spokesman Teuku Faizasyah was quoted as saying by the state news agency Antara.
