This is a discussion on Dr.Roland Chieng and Parkway East Hospital within the Trying To Conceive forum, part of the You and Your Family category; wow is really exp for the jabs..but no choice. this is the $ that we have to spend if w ...
yup exactly! But im already having the AF sysmtoms.. cramps are here...seems need another process. Me and hubby thinking of IVF next. dont want to waste time keep going for IUI, cus the chances he told us was 15-25% only. Maybe will talk to him in our next appointment. i read at other thread this lady paid 1k cash only. the rest was being deducted by medisave and govt grant. so not too sure on how this things really work.
Btw have you made up your mind which pte doctor you going to take?
Diana, mind if i ask yr age? if you r younger than 30, still got time to try naturally or IUI. for IVF, is not only about the $ spent. but is more physically, mentally n emotionally tiring. you shld discuss this carefully with yr hubby n gyane. c what yr gyane suggests you to do next. put this aside. yr AF is not here yet. as long as it's not here, you still have chance to strike this cycle. think positively
you r rite about the medisave & govt grant for IVF. however, the govt grant ($3K) is only applicable for govt hospital. for pte hospital, you can only deduct the medisave portion. i understand the costs of IVF is more expensive than govt. so deduct the medisave, you have to prepare about $8 to $10k depending on the overall costs. which is y many couples go to govt hops for IVF since they could get the add'l govt grant.
I've not decide which pte doctor to go too. hubby n i r still thinking of trying to concieve naturally though we r not young anymore. i'm deciding between Mount E Dr Charles Lim or Dr Roland Chieng from parkway. have you heard of Dr Charles lim before? seems like he has helped many couples conceive but he only c patients in the morning which is quite difficult for me to take time off if i consult him
My AF is here..
just called the clinic they will make a appointment for me. have not heard about Dr Charles before.. yeah i have been taking leave and time off recently. That i told my hubby we should tell them we can come on weekends saturday instead, so sickening taking leave, pay more money and still no result.
Yes im below 30, only 24 . hubby is 30 already.it is very sickening and tiring, im lost at times cus really not to sure what to do next. Mentally tired. Maybe i want this so much and been thinking2.
m new to this forum , also seeking medical help from dr roland cheing as i have pcos,
took clomid first cycle followed by an HCG shot n trying naturally , right now in the middle of two weeks waiting time. may n next time would try to go for an IUI,
just want to know more about it, is it painful ? how many shots i have to take before the procedure n cost associated with it?
right now my fingers are crossed
Hi Dianarafee, Sorry had been quite busy with work and hospital visits.
I am so sorry to hear about the disappointment. But let's not lose hope. One thing my husband keeps telling me is "atleast we have found the issue and proceeding in the right direction towards having a baby". Same applies to all of us. I am sure good news is around the corner.
I went to hospital 5 times last week. Finally I had eggs growing and I had my IUI on Sat. I am in 2WW now... I am not having any hopes. I dont't want any disappointments.
Strawberry and Rainy girl, welcome to the group and Good luck.
Jabs are little painful. The HCG shot given before the IUI day was hurting a lot. IUI by itself is not painful.
Thanks Desperate mom,
wish you all the good luck!
just 4-5 days more my 2ww will b over , 2 weeks seems like 2 months.
thanks for the info about iui tht it does not hurt(i was bit scared of it).
will keep you all updated)
sorry to hear tht your AF came.
my 2ww will b over soon, no symptoms as such of pregnancy, was given progestrone for 2 weeks,
just want to know when to expect AF once off progestrone on 22 jan.
All the best. Avoid thinking too much about it. Actually we are putting so much stress into our mind during this 2WW which is def. not good for our body. So take care and rest.
my 2ww was over 5 days back but still no sign of AF, got negative pregnancy test.
just my nipples are extremely sore nothing else
tried to call the clinic they are closed for chinese newyear.
dont know what to do?
when did you guys got AF after taking hcg shot (if not pregnant)?
may be progestrone pills might be the cause of delay.
Hi all, I m new to this forum.. But not new to trying to conceive... ;(
We have been trying to concieve for a year but still no news at all.. So I m intending to make an appt with
Dr Ronald Chieng sometime this month..
I called up the nurse & they suggest both hubby & myself to go down together, but sigh, my husband is always busy, so I intend to do the check on myself first to see if there is anything wrong with me...
Hope that you have succeed in your IUi..? I guess Tats the next thing I would properly opt to do if possible...
welcome to the forum JanelleQ,
i got my periods bck, so will go for iui this month.
for first few appointmnent you can go alone if your hubby is bz, let them figure out the problem and initially they might suggest some blood test for you.
Hi Janelle, Good luck on your appointment with Roland. Strawberry, sorry to hear about your AF coming. Hope next month is lucky for you.
Dianrafee: What's happening with you these days...
HI Desperate mom,
howz everything going with you? is your 2ww over?
this month again i took clomid but did not produce good follicle, also my lining very thin so doctor has askd me to wait for atleast 2 months and has giving me medicines to build lining.
dont know whats gonna happen next
so no iui for next 2 months.
Hi everyone, yes I have seen dr chieng with my husband & result does not seems very good on both of us..
but we have to still wait for the blood test for further treatment..
But somehow, I have this feel that dr chieng keep wanting us to do ivf.. Do you gals feel that?
sigh the thought of it is really stressful ESP on the $$ part... Some ppl is so easy to get preg but some (eg. Me) is just so hard... ;(
Hi Strawberry, dont worry about taking clomid... For me too he said 3 cycles of Clomid and if it doesn't work then go for IUI... just stay positive... It will happen at the right time...
Janelle, dont't lose up... When things dont work for me... i too sometimes feel that the Dr. is making us do unnatural methods why not natural... But let me tell you... they know it right... they may not explicitly tell you all the problems that we have (they dont want us to lose hope or get depressed about it... they will encourage us only)... So in your case, if Dr. says something, take it for good. After all you need to trust someone... you cant keep changing Drs. it will only increase your bill as each one will make you do same set of tests... So if you are comfortable with Dr. Roland, then just trust him with 100% heart... It will def. work... Good luck to you
Hi desperate mon,
Guess you r right... let's all jia you together..!
i completely agree with Desperate mom
Hws everyone? Busy trying to concieve-ing..? ;p
Any good news to share.. For me , still under medic treatment.. Going back to see him next week for results & see hw it goes..
Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum but not new to e problems that we all share. I'm here to share my side of e story for e benefit of those couples whom are or will be facing e same problem like me n my hubby.
Like many couples, we decided to start a family since we r not young anymore. Tried for 6 mths no results & decided to get professional advice. Was hesitating to go either Raffles or KK as we do not have recommendations on private gynaes. have gone ahead with KK cos e gynae in Raffles Hospital was unreachable. Started all our preliminarily tests in KK since Aug 2011. Results show no sperm count in hubby’s specimen, ie Azoospermia. He went for further ultrasound rest n shows no blockage. KK gynae straight away advised us to either go for adoption or get a donor sperm & do IVF.
We were both sad to accept e fact. Then I started to google about Azoospermia n learnt that there could be a possibility to find sperm if my hubby go through biopsy. During one of our visits I suggested biopsy to KK gynae & he just said, "oh, if you all want to try, we can do it though chances not high". He then asked hubby to do another blood test n waited for 3 wks to visit him again. He cleared our results & we proceeded with making an appt in Nov 2011 for biopsy. Then KK gynae called us saying there are too many appts & we agreed to postpone our Nov appt to Jan 2012. KK began calling hubby in Dec saying doctor wanted to see us even before e biopsy where we find it strange. I tried calling & email e gynae. My email was bounced back & I was unable to contact e nurse in charge for 2 full days. What great service in KK.
Finally e gynae got my massage & called me back saying that another marker from my hubby blood test shows that there is no sperm production & hence no point doing biopsy. We made another appt with him n met him on 17 Feb. he explained that there was a Y deletion chromosome in my hubby & told us to look for sperm donor instead. Though sad, we accepted the fact. But that was not the worse, he told us KK only use one sperm bank & they have recently, in Jan 2012 stopped doing IVF for patients using donor sperms from that bank because KK has imposed some additional regulations which the bank has not agreed on (to restrict 3 life births per donor in SG from each overseas donor). So what about us? KK gynae just said sorry to us and unless we can find a local sperm donor, they can't proceed with the fertility treatment for me. Imagine the time and money we spent in KK and they just shut the door like that. To think that the government wants more babies but they are not helping the very minority group like me! And the gynae is not a small doctor in KK.
KK gynae recommended me to Dr Roland and since all necessary results are available, he did not request us to do further tests. I met Dr Roland in mid Feb 2012 & he explained that about 10% men suffer from Azoospermia and only 5% of them have Y deletion chromosome. How lucky are we?! He recommended me to go to Parkway Health Fertility Centre (PFC) to purchase donor sperm and I was advised on the procedures on the purchase, and guess what, from the SAME sperm bank as KK. The difference is PFC CURRENTLY only restrict per sperm donor per couple in PFC. Everything was done quickly and today, 6 Mar 2012, I'm done with the selection of donor and now waiting for PFC to make the necessary arrangement to ship over the donor sperm (about 2 wks time).
Dr Roland has advised me to do IUI first since I was not fertilised for our past tries with hubby. Reason also being IUI is cheaper than IVF. Hubby & I both very happy with Dr Roland as he is patient with us & charges are comparable with KK (as we are considered private patient in KK anyway). I just want to encourage couples like us to quickly go ahead to purchase donor sperm if possible. There might be changes to the law for donor sperm in SG, looking at the way KK rejected us. Charges are not cheap. To purchase donor sperms (5 vials; ie tubes) plus the handling charges already cost us about SG$7000. IUI procedure will cost about SG$2000. If need to do IVF, I heard is about SG$12000 per cycle (think can claim some $ from CPF.)
Hi JanelleQ hope everything is fine at your end and @Dreambear welcome to the forum,
no news from my side as for now i have to concentrate on my weightloss n m off any medications now, as dr. roland also believes it might help me.
i feel he is a wonderful doctor n does not push to take unnecessory medications or treatment.
hope it will b a successful journey for all of us.
feels good all of us can share our stories here n can b a support
Welcome to the forum..!
A big hug to you.. I think you must have gone thru some emotional roller coaster.. Actually I didnt know that Singapore has sperm donor that people can purchase too..
You mention that you are done with the selection of donor, does it mean there is a profile of the donor that you can choose fm? So sorry for this stupit question.. hehe
So your IUI should be done after 2 weeks? Hope everything gone well for you... Jia You Jia You..!!
HOwever, I really have this puzzle question in my mind.. during the 1st or 2nd visit with Dr Chieng, I requested to do IUI first before proceeding for IVF.. But he says dnt need to waste time in IUI coz the chances are very slim.. So he suggested us on IVF straight away.. But he has suggested you to do IUI instead.. Really Puzzled...
