after the blocked ducts in my first two months, i had one isolated recurrence when my boy was about four months, in the middle of the nite. might be cos around that time, my boy sometimes dropped one of his two night feeds. since then, i always made sure i wake up to pump at least once.
yes, breast pumps can help to unblock in some cases. but they didn't help me during my times of blocked ducts cos it was so badly blocked. so I would wake up my sleeping baby to suckle and help me clear. Even then, it took two to three feeding sessions before he could clear them for me.
is your baby in football hold when you nurse her. if your blocked ducts are always on the inner side of your breasts, you can try to hold her in such a way that her chin is pointing in the direction of the blocked ducts. in this case, cradle hold should work.
hope this helps. =)
