this is a little late for me to ask since my son is already 6+ mths. I've been pumping for the past 6 mths, and will try to go on as long as possible, but this qn suddenly came up. for all exclusively pumping mummies, do you pump and give ebm to baby straight away? I've been pumping, then freezing the ebm straight away, while giving my son the earliest dated milk i have in the freezer.
Even though my supply is low, i managed to maintain about a week's supply, so my son gets milk daily that is about a week old. I worry i'm not doing this right and i should be giving him fresh ebm daily while freezing the extra (not that i have alot)
huh, the EBM nutrient at the freezer will be destroy meh?
I always mix fresh one and freezed one, then store the extra fresh one to freezer to clear earlier date one.. found no problem so far, baby vy healthy n getting chubby
I guess if you are at home, try to latch... then pump out the extra for storage. Drink from direct is the best!
For fridge, try to give within 2 days. I know some mummies practise last in first out, instead of first in first out for the ebm in freezer.
Those milk in freezer i will normally mix with cereals or other food to feed my baby or when i am sick and on medication then i will activate those milk in freezer since the frozen ebm can be kept up to 3 months in freezer.
i'm trying it out, to pump and give fresh one, but it's hard to gauge how much i pump and how much i need to take from freezer to top up. and if last min take from freezer, it takes too long to thaw, and i read it's bad to put in warm water to thaw, better to thaw overnight. is that true?
I read it's ok to mix but there's a ratio to it but I dont really think much as I dont do that for my case.
I have been bfing for 14 month. What I do is always give fresh ones to my son and freeze the excess. It's true some nutrients will be lost for frozen milk but it's still better than formula even with the nutrients loss.
For me, at first i was very kiasu and worried about the nutrients loss so I always gave fresh ones and kept the frozen ones for emergency. Then slowly the frozen milk acuumulated and I gave my niece to drink when nearing 3 mths.
Now, at 14 month, I still give fresh ones but when the frozen milk is nearing 1.5 month, I give to my son and freeze the fresh ones (my son is fussy and dont like frozen milk kept for too long). In this way, I still keep a healthy supply of frozen milk and use fresh ones often enough not to worry about nutrients loss.
Hope this is clear and jia you all mummies on bfing journey!

For me, I pump during day n latch at nite. What I did was give baby the fresh ebm tomorrow, n freeze the extras. Then on Sat n Sun, I dont pump n exclusively latch, so on Mon, baby will drink the frozen ebm. I will rotate the freezer stash so I dont't waste any through expiration. However, there comes a time when my freezer was overflowing with milk so I used some of it to bathe my baby. Better than throwing them away.
can mix breast milk with fm meh... not sure but seems read thread before that, better feed him breast milk 1st, then only feed him fm o.. or you can feed him fm 1st, then accumulate breast milk to the volume he take, then only feed breast milk.
how many ml your son take now?
Will pray for him so that he can get well soon !!!!!!
hmm, 95ml o, mayb can slowly increase if he can take more milk... mayb too long time no let your boy latch n that's y he rejected that now, nvm, as long as he willing to take milk then ok, no matter bottle feed or latch on...
try to get more rest then... ya, sure will have panda eye one... but after few mths will be better..
Gambateh mummy !!
