Hi mummies, my baby is now turning 9mnths and already on solids. My milk supply has decreased and i do not have extra frozen ebm to spare. I pump at work twice and per pumping session i managed to get only 60ml. Once i reach home i will latch him n if theres opportunity i will pump. He drinks about 360ml everyday.... What should i do?? dont't want to give up yet
Hi Jessica, I am drinking at least 3 ltrs of water (normal plain) dear everyday without fail
My mom is askin me to supplement with FM already but i seriously dont't want.
Wow that is alot of liquid. Do you switch nursing with both breast? Breast feeding often will help to increasemilk flow and nursing at night also help. Well good thing is you still have have milk so as long you go on it will not stop Jia you!
Yar man.... N i go to the toilet like nobody bizness!!! Hahahaah yes i do switch breast n my baby still nurse at night. Thats y i'm like helpless, not sure what else i should do......anw thanks jessica... N yes i will not give up!!!
Being a mum not easy ya!! Be proud of ourself!!You are always welcome!!
Is it possible to pump more than twice at work? When i pumped every 3hours round the clock, my milk supply increased by a lot. And i was then able to keep a small supply in the freezer. It also meant i was waking up every 3hours to pump- something i doubt you should do now, since you need your sleep to maintain your sanity at work
Good job for BFing for 9months!
Mummy Qookie, i usually pump at 10am & 3pm at work. Usually i won't have time to pump during lunch coz i noticed if i skip lunch, supply will b worst. I tried pumping at night but i dont get much either or even worst its like pumping air!! Coz my baby still wakes up more than 3 times for his short feeds.
How long is your pumping session mummy qookie??
supply won't just increase or happen in couple of days. some might need to do it (pump more) for at least one week in order to see result.
my baby also 9mth, also wake up 2 times at night to suckle, but the suckling is very short, not enough to empty the breast. so the breast wont get the idea of making more milk, end up will dry up if i continue this pattern. so you can consider pump after feed to "cheat" the body to make more milk. let down is important, sometimes there is milk in breast but just that no let down, milk cannot flow by pumping.
i am still pumping at least 3 times on a 12 hr clock.
need alot of hard work for it to work hope you can do it.
I pumped around 20-30 minutes each time.
Yeah, it's hard work, i agree. So i stopped after 7 months. I met my own target (which was 6 months). So i'm happy. Haha.
My baby is 8 mths now. Supply also suddenly decrease though I have been sticking to 4 hrly pumping. From 200 ml per pump to 100-140ml per pump. I do feel more stress recently n tired. Other than that I also drink at least 3 little water a day. Can hardly meet baby demand now. Sad........
ilovebbdylan & qookie i will try to pump 3hrly round the clock. Tho its really hard esp when you need the much needed rest afta a tiring day at work. Plus i'm having my menses now n that makes it worst. Just wondering if the sacred tea works?? Any of you mummies tried it before?
Pauline, i know exactly how you feel.... sigh. We shall work this out together.... At least you still get 140ml max
Zeeyana, my intention was to feed 1 yr. now too tired and I dont think I can go back to pump 3 hrly. If. It enough might gv formula. sigh.......
Hi ZeeYana, have you tried the Fenugreek supplement ?
Had low supply after giving birth to my girl.
Was recommended by the lactation consultant to take the Fenugreek supplement. Im taking the one from GNC & so far so good.
sacred tea works for me. you can try all ways and means as long as it is safe
Hi Mummy ZeeYana
Congrats on BF-ing your sunshine for 9 months now
Firstly, avoid stress around you. Stress is one of the lead that causes your milk supply to run low. Have sufficient rest that is very important. Have a positive mind that you can do it!!
Secondly, eat lots of spinach. I have them in my every meal. Increase your fluid intake but dont forget to drink your lactating milk!!! You may wish to have a glass of pure carrot juice that you self make at home in the morning and one glass at night during dinner. You can try sacred tea for breastfeeding mums too )
I hope this helps ...
MsSaggi, i've not tried fenugreek. But i heard that will give more foremilk than hindmilk is it??
ilovebbdylan, which nursing tea is good dear?? N where to get??
Momastar... Thanks for the tip. So lactating milk is actually carrot juice?? Guez i should buy a juicer now. Just pure carrot n need to add anything more?? N yes i will start eating spinach everyday now.....
Hi gals. I'm a mother of two with a third one due this month. I bf my 1st for 13mths but had to stop when supply ran low due to 2nd pregnancy. I bf 2nd one for 2.5yrs. I plan to bf 3rd one for however long it takes. I find that latching on is best way to increase supply. Drink plenty of fluids and try to latch on whenever possible. To cheat my body to produce more, I latch on one side while pumping the other. I produce about 210ml per side at best time. Takes awhile to get there so dont't give up. Drink PLENTY of fluid and eat loads of (healthy) food. You need it more than when pregnant.

i am using sacred tea, it works in the first few months , not very sure whether will it be effective for now, our babies same age
i bought fr here http://www.originsjamumassage.com/Sacred-Tea.html
but i really think the effective way is to empty all breast to allow body to make more milk. recently my baby increase the milk intake , i went back to extract more milk out by increasing the pump session. today is the 3rd day, i see some differences.
hope you can too work hard, dont give yrself too much stress.
but if the supply did not meet your baby demand, you need a backup plan.
Try Anmum for the milk
As for the carrot juice, just carrots no need to add anything to taste.
I drink this Organic Milkmaid Tea while breastfeeding my baby, it really helps.
Few months ago I stopped breastfeeding my boy, but there is still 10 boxes with me.
Any mummies interested to have it? Throw away very 'sayang' ...
It is SGD10 per box including postage. PM me if you are interested.
