Drink lots of fluids, papaya soup, groundnuts cooked with pork bone soup etc, try to get enuf sleep (body then can produce more milk) and most importantly must latch very frequently and pump - Demand and supply laws-supply goes up when demand goes up. Good Luck!

You ought to pump out/emptied both boobies after each feeding to regulate the milk supply
The faster time span (from breast starts filling and pumped) the faster our body will replenish. It used to take me around 2-3 hours for both breast to replenish themselves during your stage (perhaps differ in person)

The gauge of whether bb is hvg enough milk is:
1. Weight gain
2. When bb cries, they should shed tears
3. Changing nappies at least 8x/day for newborn

Re: how to up the milk supply?

hey must drink this soup esp if ure c-sect. this helps up ur milk supply! also gd for general good health of family.

Papaya and Fish Soup

Ingredients:
Green (unripe) or semi-ripe papaya 700g
Fish, can b snakehead, carp, seabream, pomfret... 300g
Fish bones
Red dates 12 pcs
Dang Shen 2 pcs
Yuzhu 5g
Ginger 6 slices
huiji waist tonic 40-80ml

Instructions:

* Put fish bones, ginger, dang shen, red dates, yuzhu in water and boil for half an hour

* Add papaya and when papaya softens, add fish and simmer till fish is cooked

* Add 40-80 ml of waist tonic (i think u can get it at most supermarkets)

* Serve immediately. heard it's gd for breastfeeding mums to drink as much piping hot soup as possible as it helps lactation

(I think the waist tonic’s Chinese name is huiji bu yao jing. Can get at NTUC fairprice)

Re: how to up the milk supply?

Another way to enhance supply (always work for me) is drink hot MILO. U can also take Oats (quacker oats) or add oats into the milo. I usually drink Milo when I find my breast really soft after feeds and take rest. I find that the supply top up faster when I am resting.

Re: how to up the milk supply?

To help maintain supply, drink enough fluid, have enough sleep (sleep when baby sleeps if you can), get help with as much household chores as possible (so you don't tire yourself up), relax (dun get stressed up) and dun go hungry (this is not the time to diet) - eat well.

To up milk supply, latch bb on for all her feeds. Do not supplement. If really need to increase supply, pump inbetween feeds and after feeding. Do it for at least a week or two to see results. Be persistent and with determination, it will be done.

Keep up the good work, it's such a satisfying and rewarding 'job' only mothers are blessed with.
