I'm not sure whether that actually affects the coming in of the milk but i do think that effort put in after that is equally impt, if not even more. What i did to make milk come in faster (Lactation Consultant's advice) is to latch baby at every feed then pump after that (at the hospital). This means waking up every 2-3hrs to latch/pump. My milk came in while i was still in hospital and by the time i was discharged i had enuff milk for dear daughter.
I didn't eat anything in particular beforehand for bfding purposes. I think what your wife eats after delivering is more impt. But like i said, consistent effort in pumping/ latching is the key to increase/maintain supply.
