Me too. Started with pumping 20ml only. Now when baby is 2wks old, i managed to pump more about 50-60ml. Rest top with formula enfalac. Started taking Motilium ( from my gynae) , it works! Side effect is sleepy but i dont feel it.
Hi all, I've heard that lactation cookies may help! These are cookies that contain useful natural ingredients like oats and brewer's yeast. Check out the link below for an interesting article with more details... Boosting your milk supply with Milk of Love | BubbaMama.com
My baby is a month old. I do exclusive latching, but i pumped when baby missed a feeding usually at night. But when i pumped i only got 50-80ml for both sides i tried to pump immediately after latching, but only got like40-50ml for both.. Sighs.. so far i never supplement with FM.. But dont know will last till how long..
Hi mummies with low milk supply. Maybe you wanna try Chlorophyll drink? Its main benefit is to cleanse and nourish our body, and there are many other benefits. Increases milk supply is one of them (hence definitely safe for breastfeeding mum). Other benefits include better complexion, heals wound, improves immunity, etc. You can do a google search on benefits of Chlorophyll drink. It is suitable for all ages, even babies can drink. No side effect too.
Those who are keen can PM me. I'm currently taking it and it works well for me. My boy is 2mth old and he's on total bf. So far he has not fallen sick yet so i guess it contributes to that too.
Just need to hang on there and continue pumping. Demand and supply. More demand more milk will flow.
during my confinement, i tried to pump out excess milk after each feeding. however, my baby kept crying after each feed, and that led us to suspect that she was still hungry. so we ended up feeding her whatever i have pumped out previously. i was in dilemma whether to pump or not.
in the end, i just fed her exclusively without any pumping until week 6 (one week before i resume work) when i sent her over to babysitter's place. i just pumped every 3-4 hours to practice the schedule before going back to work. the supply slowly went up as time passes by. i pump while at work, and feed her at night.
till date, i am still on total breastfeeding (6 months+). wish you all the best in breastfeeding. key is dont give up, and keep latching on.
My milk supply always good and this time (3rd baby), had soo much, had to buy freezer.
This is what I take:
1. fenugreek 600mg 2 tabs 2* a day, till milk supply good.
2. oats / multigrain bread for breakfast.
3. also certain vegs (not sure the english name), Daun Turi, daun kucai (whn cooking mee siam, the veg that they put on top).
4. plenty of water & lots of skim milk
5. air mata kucing, or boil dried longan and drink the water (from chinese medicinal store).
6. Horlicks!!! Yes, horlicks really works
Always remember, demand=supply, so latching is still the best.
Hope this helps you. And also, pump the excess milk after each latch on.
Our milk gives out babies the best!!! Chia yo!!
My baby already 2 month , my milk flow always pump onli get 50ml.. I very hard working to pump.. It's still like that... Try all menthol still the same
Are you doing exclusive pumping? If so how many times are you pumping a day? If its 3 hourly then shorten the interval to 2 hourly. Having said that, fastest way is still to latch baby.Originally Posted by angbao:825721
My baby very inpatient to latch.. Milk flow slow n little..
I face the same problem initially. Supply was low and so let down was slow. My boy cry and whine at my breast and even try to push me away.
But it got better as I attempt to latch him more often. There is a few ways you can increase supply. Increase your pump frequency and do exclusive pump. The other way is to get a lactation consultant to help you with the latch and teach you how to handle fussy baby. I chose the second path and never looked back. My baby was on tbf since week 10 and still on it at 5 months.
i drink fish soup, take fenugreek 3 pills 3 times a day, drink mothers tea, eat oatmeal..
i pump every 2 hours even set alarm to wake and pump.
After 1 week, I was a total wreck from little sleep and increase 20 ml only...dont know to laugh or cry.
So I tried calling milk companies to ask for samples, all say govt enourage breast feeding so they can't give. Erm then might as well make it mandatory!
maybe, pumping every 2 hours is too taxing for you. Relax a bit, have more rest.
Drink n sleep longer.
Try 4 hours interval. Maybe that will help.
you sound so stressed up. This will affect yr flow too. Have happy thoughts too.
In the end no choice I started supp with formula 5 days ago. Thus I was a bit desperate to increase the amt.
The interesting thing is my father in law is very supportive. Keep trying tell his wife, my mother in law that bf is the best.
My confinement nanny knows how to cook those dishes (cod fish, salmon, scallops, sea cucumber, papaya fish soup, some other dishes she created.. etc) that can boost up my milk supply. To get good amt of breastmilk you must also eat well and sleep well... I am pumping around 800~900ml a day ever since Day 7. I pump 3times a day.
Some woman are just not that responsive to pumping. If can, try to latch. I was pumping only 500ml daily even though I was pumping 8 to 9 times a day. I was also on fenugreek and domperidone but pumping volume stay the same. It was only until I latch that my supply increase.
Interesting my father in law behaves like your mother in law. When my baby cry he says he is hungry and every morning he will ask me what time the baby last feed (which later on I realize it doesnt matter cos he always feed him at 8am regardless what time he last fed). However he is supportive of bf. So you shouldnt be bothered by what your mother in law says. Treat it like she is just concern about the wellbeing of your baby. And I'm guessing you are not working yet? you should try to latch because that's the fastest way to increase supply. If baby cant latch, get a lc to help you identify the problem.Originally Posted by Applediver:827449
Hang in there dear. I was soo stressed when I had my first boy, whopping 10pounder, who drinks and drinks.
My Hubby - very pro BF, will just hand him to me when he cries.
My neighbor came and console me, she is a staff nurse.
She told me, take it easy, if i need to, just give him formula once a day. Take it a day at a time.
When i relax, it was amazing. BF became a breeze, i managed to feed him for more than a yr, formula was kept til it became hard (hardly used).
Then, had to travel 1 month for work, brought back EBM from states, but by that time, he does not want my nipple, used to bottle nipple. sigh.
For 2nd babym BF till 2+, this gal refuse formula and bottle, another headache. So, learn my lesson, 3rd one, very early give EBM in bottle, once in a while (after she turned 1+), give formula (if this gal also like sis, cline formula, i will go nuts!!!). now 3rd baby, still bf- already 13 mths.
So, relax and if you no choice, give him formula once in a while. This is happy times for you and family, everyone wants the best for you n baby!
My Baby is 9Mth where I also still feed EBM & also trying to in crease my milk... Does lot lot plain water really help in supply?
I try to drink at least 1.5 ltrs of plain water in the office. Find that if I drink less my pumping output will drop a bit. Not a lot though around 20ml. I recall reading from somewhere that drinking too much will cause drop. But I guess it depends on individual. you can trial and error.Originally Posted by ling.er:829195
hi all, my baby boy 2 weeks + 3 days, he need to bf 1 hr interval n each time he only latch 10-15 mins. is it normal?
Clumsy smurf, each child is different, so thts e pattern for your baby.
Some babies latch for more than 1 hr and still wants to drink 1 hr later.
hang in thr. Coax him to drink more, hopedully, He will, then he will stay satisfid longer.
