Sorry ladies.. i've been out of action on this thread cos delivered my 2nd boy and now with 2 boys, they are sure keeping me busy.
As I'm doing my confinement now, would want to "rest" all I could so have been expressing my milk for my cl to feed. But at times, I just want a little time with my baby so I feed direct and I also face this problem. But he just needs a little patience and positive guidance and he will eventually suckle well.
If baby is on total breast milk, they get hungier faster because breastmilk is easily digestable. Sometimes baby even poo after each feed. So will you save $ on milk powder, you spend on more diapers. And the feeding hours may not be that consistent because depending if baby poo all out, of course get hungry earlier. Mine is drinking 60ml for every 1-2 hourly. Sometimes he sleeps till forget to wake up to drink after 2 hours, then I will gently wake him up and feed him. Too long not too good cos baby stomach empty and will start "producing" air.
Also if after 30mins and baby still sucking, check if she still swallowing or asleep. If so, stop the sucking otherwise it becomes a habit. To ensure baby gets all the milk "in time", keep her awake when breastfeeding by stroking her feet or disturbing above her ears. Cos when breastfeeding, they feel so comfortable that naturally fall asleep.

wow..all the babies here seem to drink more than my baby girl. She is now already 2months coming to 3 but she still drinks only around 90-100ml each feed(FM). But she drinks around every 2hourly and direct latch on 90% of the time. Now already 5kg
I am just too lazy to pump out and feed in a bottle(too many things to wash), and I like the closeness I get when she latches on directly so I stick to direct latch on. And I was a c-section as well, I also did the bending over. But my mother in law bought me this cordycep tonic (half dozen per box) and it helped my back to improve. Perhaps you want to try and it might help.
I used to have problems with my milk supply also, till was doing my post natal massage, the massage lady also told me to relax and massage my breast and taught me how to feel for blocked ducts. Then my flow got better. Now 15mins can fill up 100ml on one side. So that is quite a big improvement. And even when direct latch on there is no pain, cos I the nurse from KK told me that there is not suppose to be pain when she latches on that means its correct and that she is drinking correctly.
The only thing is, she falls asleep 90% of the time when I breastfeed. Have to keep tickling her chin and cheek till she really K.Os and stop.hahaha...
But its really a wonderful feeling to be able to breastfeed.
