Hi pink kitty, my replies in blue.
Hello all mummys. Undstd that some o my questions here may have been post before but i wld like to ensure that i have the latest update if any so here are my long list o questions regding BF pls bear with me if i ask silly questions. thks
1) i,m currently(in confinement) feeding my baby(2wks old) w ebm as i delivered via c sect (GA) .
I also delivered via c-sect and under GA. I could breastfeed with direct latch on at 3 weeks. But EBM was easier as my baby was small.
a)how long can ebm stand in normal temp? eg: when i have 50ml n baby oni took 10ml how long can i lve it outside ?
At 26C, websites suggest that it can stand for 6 hours. But given Singapore's weather, I think it's safest to consume it asap or within 2 hours. Some mummies would suggest consuming it within 1 hr.
b) usu after i express e breast milk i,l lve e bott in e fridge n immerse e whole bott into hot water when i need it for feeding is this ok?
That's what I do too. My baby's ok. So I suppose it's ok.
2) i also do e same for FM eg: if i make 100ml n baby oni took 80ml i,l immerse e whole bott in hot water n lve it in cse she wants another 10ml n also i dont waste e remaining 20ml usu i lve it in hot water for 2hrs but i,m not sure about ebm( refer above) but can i do it tis way for FM?
I do that for FM also. I try to let my son consume it within 1.5hrs. If after 1.5hrs, I will discard the FM and make a new bottle.
2)usu after i express breast milk i,l keep it in e fridge st away but my breast milk is oni a pathetic 40ml so i usu hve to supplement w fm. is it ok to combine e 1st 40ml o breast milk with another 40ml o breast milk that i pumped from another session ie: to pump into e same bott?
I did that last time as well. But I ensure that both milk was pumped within 24hrs of one another. Some mummies will say that this is not advisable and I agree that it's not the best. But to save time for myself and to preserve my own sanity, that's what I did.
Breast milk for the first month is usually low as with what I've been reading through this forum and what I personally experienced. But if you continue to latch (latch is best stimulation for your breasts) especially when your baby hits growth spurts (phases where milk intake suddenly increases) your milk supply will definitely increase. And remember to keep yourself hydrated. Milk is liquid so you need adequate liquids to produce milk.
