Baby is the best milk stimulator, better than any pump. Many 'pumping' mums see dwindling supply, but I have yet to hear mums who latch on exclusively or mostly face this problem. Try latching on if possible. This also saves A LOT OF time on sterilizing, pumping, storing, warming, feeding, washing.
Use the time to prepare simple healthy meals for yourself.
Steamed food, wholesome sandwiches and salads are easy to prepare and healthy.
You may also prepare one big batch of food, freeze and warm up over several meals.
A good diet ensures sufficient and nutritious breastmilk.
I read that cabbage contains some enzymes that affects breast milk supply and my Swiss midwife told me not to eat them - cooked or raw.
Early introduction of bottle teat in the first days / weeks could have also led to nipple confusion and refusal to latch on.
I know some Mums managed to latch on again after the baby was drinking from bottle; tough effort needed though and need baby to co-operate.
If latching on is not possible, then find ways to get help from family for household duties. Consider baby-wearing to calm baby down and free up some time.
When baby is older, milk feeds will be further apart and you'd have more time again. Have confidence and hang in there for a few months. Time passes by very quickly with a baby. You would be glad in future that you breastfed your baby.

oh dear.. i didn't know cannot take cabbage too. today just drank and eat cabbage soup.. alot... cos i wanna drink more soup = fluid.. faint..
How do you all maintain 5litres of water? what kind of water/fluid did you take?
I drank plain water...
wa sey... plain water can also drink up to 5litres... i think i'm way below target. need to tank up on water...
I drink plain water from a jug as well as a 1.5L bottle - when I'm napping in the same room with Eva, I have it by my side. Plus after each BF session, I'll drink at least two big glasses or water.
have not't had soup in months already. I think most of my fluids comes from plain water. I boil about 8-10 liters of water a day and during the weekend, it's not enough for myself, and hubby.
my LC can do home visits too. she was a great help to me, i only needed to see her once and got the latch corrected. end of sore nipples! she charged $60 an hour, based on last year when i saw her. that is for ppl who go to her clinic at NUH. but she's actually an independent pte LC doing research on lactation for NUH so she can also visit homes. for home visits, she will also factor in the time taken to travel to yr place as part of fee calculation. her name is doris fok. if you want her contact no, can google her name or PM me. =)

hi mummies,I dont't know why supply in the morning can be 150ml,n get lesser by the day.end of the day I prob getting only 50!
also now I'm having infection,is it ok to still bf? I'm not latching on as advised by the LC.she suggested expressing.but my breast is so painful.
any mummies still bf when having infection?
what infection do you have? thrush? if so, maybe that's why the LC told you not to latch on for the time being, as she might be worried that the infection will be passed to your baby thru direct latch. but even then, there shouldn't be any problem with you breastfeeding by pumping out milk and cup-feeding your baby.
yup am having thrush. LC ask me not to latch on anymore?
i also bought the gel to apply but it's been 4 days still the same.
Actually, I think 5 liters of fluids is too much; read that about 2-3 litre is enough, depending on Mummy's size too. I'm very petite (42kg), so it's impossible to down 5 liters. I try to drink at every meal, after feeds and sometimes in the night too.
