I'd like to know how long after you deliver then did your baby latch on?
And did you have enough breastmilk for your baby?
For my first baby, the doctor and nurses did not let my baby latch on immediately. I only get to latch him on ~8hrs after delivery. And as he had jaundice, I also did not have much chance to have him latch on for the 2nd-4th day. I think due to all these reasons, I did not have enough milk despite me pumping every 2-3hrs for the next 2-3 months.
I'm in my 2nd pregnancy.
Would like to know if I can still be successful in breastfeeding if the baby latch on as soon after I deliver?
I latched both my babies within 10 minutes after I delivered them. All the weighing, measuring, and bathing and whatever else had to wait till after I had my 1 hour skin to skin bonding time with them. Oh they weren't bathed till day 2 hahaha.
If both mum and bub appear fine, I'd say go for the 1 hour skin to skin time. Just you, your partner and baby alone without interference from medical staff. That 1 hour is important for both mum and bub.
Check out "Breast crawl" on Google or Youtube, best thing ever!! Mum lets baby do what they do best, and all on their own too!! And yes, latching on straight after delivery is good for breastfeeding
