Sorry to ask but do we need a pediatrician for child injection etc? DO normal GP offer such services?
of cos pediatrician is NOT a must. it depends on individual parents.. i brought dear son to his pediatrician for injections after his 2nd hep b at polyclinic. cos i still feel that pediatrician can provide better info when i need advises..
for injections, it is really up to you whether you wanna bring your baby to which clinic. but if (touch wood) your baby is unwell, i would suggest pediatrician. unless you know any gp who is very experience in BABIES. even my family doc told me to bring dear son to a pediatrician if he is ill...
If it is just vaccinations, and you know exactly what the vaccinations are and what your child needs, then GPs are ok.
However, if your child is sick, or you have concerns regarding development, or you are not sure of anything baby-related, it is best to go to a pediatrician.
i see my family doc since pin was NB.
he is a GP.
he used to specialise more on kids, so im fine with him.
its not a must but if normal GPs are not good/skilled enuff to diagnose your baby's health condition, then its beta to visit a pediatrician. In other words, if you want a GP for your baby he must be good with children.
coz not all GPs are good with children, they are only GP
pediatrician is specialized in babies and young kids.
i visit a GP for Baber coz so far, he is quite good with children.
injections etc i go to Polyclinic becoz its followed up from Kandang Kerbau Hospital~~~
I also bring alicia to GP. Her first jab was with a pediatrician but subsequently when i brought her to GP for jab i dont really find that much difference... anyway, the GP that she sees now is very experienced in treating children so I think it's perfectly ok to see GP...
when i brought dear son to polyclinic for his 2nd hep b when he was a month old, the doc there said his testicle was swollen and she sounded very worried.. i brought dear son back to his pediatrician and he said it is very common, within 6mth will back to normal, indeed he is right. for my personal experience, i prefer to bring dear son to pediatrician for injections.. =)
Thanks all for advise coz i was thinking of bringing her for injections etc only... poly too many people... cough here cough there and long wait while pediatrician is quite far away... GP only across the street.
I think if not feeling well, go pediatrician better also..
