Do you feed your baby yogurt?

Hi, my dear daughter is 9 months old and i was wondering if anyone has tried giving a baby this young yogurt. Just found out she's allergic to tofu recently so am a bit more cautious about trying out new foods now...

Re: Do you feed your baby yogurt?

if your child is allergic to tofu, it'll be safest to make your own yogurt using breastmilk or the current formula milk your child is taking.

that's what i did for my son cos he got multiple food allergies when he was around 9mths old.

Re: Do you feed your baby yogurt?

snowbear, mix with fruit juice or fresh fruit puree to make it yummy. cos the taste is sour, so they may reject it at first. as with all new foods, they need some time to like it. dont give up!

Re: Do you feed your baby yogurt?

yeah i gave my gal yogurt too when she is 11 mths plus..
cant find baby yoplait...so i gave petit yoplait..start with have a bottle. then slowly to 1 bottle. Then 2 weeks ago i found the baby yoplait one...so happy...so i bought that. My gal likes yogurt so any brand for flavour she is ok...but baby yoplait size quite big ...she can actually finish most of it ...

Did your give baby cheese?? those slice ones?? like krafts?? i heard laughing cows are recommended ...but so many types. which types is better?? Thanks

Re: Do you feed your baby yogurt?

i recently bought some books on baby food recipes n some of them uses yogurt to mix with other purees so i was also wondering if i can give my girl yogurt but then she has an allergy constituition(same as me. i got asthma) so i dont dare to give her anything that might cause an allergy reaction. im planning to bring her for an allergy blood test though so i know what she is allergic to.

snowbear, alicia allergy to tofu cos of what ingredient? did you also follow the 4 day wait rule when you intro solid? does she has an allergy constituition too? cos ive seen ppl giving their baby simply anything everyday without worrying bout allergy...

shld be a soy allergy. dr says can try again when she's older. Yeah, usually i wait about 3-4 days when i intro a new food so that i know what food caused the allergy.

Alicia sometimes can sleep thru the nite but not always. I'm not sure what it depends on. Probably sometimes she's hungrier or just feeling a bit more insecure and wants to come over to the bed with me or her gums are uncomfortable? Who knows?

Overstimulated babies may not be able to rest well... Alicia plays alone at some times of the day but most of the time i'm with her during play time. Why is your baby playing alone most of the time?

Re: Do you feed your baby yogurt?

usually im with her . unless im cooking, doing household chores n all then she will be playing with her toys all by herself. then sometimes i will go disturb her n play with her a bit etc etc...cos only me n her in the house so if im busy then no one play with her ..im glad she can play alone. if not i die.. many things cannot do..

so alicia till now still not sleeping through consistently? my girl also.. she sometimes wake up only 1 time in the morning at 5-6am for feed n sometimes 2 times 2-3am and then 6-7am... i wonder when she can start to sleep through...

She managed to sleep thru the nite consistently from about 1month old to 6months. Then after that it went haywire and she'll wake up sometimes in the nite. I'm also glad that Alicia can play alone! haha.. if i'm cooking, she'll be playing on the kitchen floor with some toys... She loves to watch me prepare her food so i make it a pt to show her what i'm doing and she'll eat her food happily after that.

Re: Do you feed your baby yogurt?

wow that must have been tough on you!! to enjoy sleep for 6mths then got to wake up again after that... my girl never slept through the night. her night hours only increased as time goes by. she used to wake up every 2.5-3hrs as a newborn all the way till 2.5mths then she started sleeping a 4hrs stretch... then around 4mths she sometimes sleep 6-8hrs stretch but sometimes only 4hrs also.. till now she sometimes takes 8-10hrs stretch but also sometimes takes 4hr stretch only.. i dont know wats waking her also... i thought if she can manage to go 10hrs without milk before then she shouldnt be hungry... but then everytime she wakes up, she seriously gulps down the milk... was wondering if giving her solid at night can help her sleep longer or not... is alicia eating solid at night before bed??

my girl was consistently sleeping for 8-10hrs stretch for 2 weeks when she was 5.5mths old then at 6mths she started waking every 2hrs! then now getting better but then its still 2 times a night.. she have not go back to 8-10hrs stretch and i am already feeling so fed up.. so you must have felt very fed up with her wakings at 6mths also since you've enjoyed the peaceful sleep for 5mths!

so since 6mths old alicia has been waking up few times a night sometimes? means at times she does sleep through as well?

my girl is usually watching tv or dvd on her bumbo or on the sofa with her toys(my sofa is rather broad so no worries of her falling down) or lying down playing in her baby gym when im busy...i dont dare to put her on the flr cos though she can sit up straight rather stably, she sometimes still falls and hit her head on the flr.. so i always let her sit on carpet or sofa...

When i say she slept thru since 1 month old, she actually only sleeps for a stretch of 6hrs. So since she sleeps at 12mn, she wakes up at 6am and that works for me. Sometimes she can sleep longer like wake up at 8am for her first feed and i'll get a bit worried, like why hasn't she woken up for milk.. haha... She eats dinner in the evening, about 7pm, sometimes even later. Then she has fruits quite late in the nite (when we have our fruits).

so since 6mths old alicia has been waking up few times a night sometimes? means at times she does sleep through as well?
Sometimes she can wake up a couple of times but sometimes she sleeps thru...

Better be careful. As long as she can flip over, leaving baby on an elevated surface is dangerous. Anyway, i got those foam playmat for alicia (those with alphabets) when she was about 6 months old so that falling down is less painful.

Re: Do you feed your baby yogurt?

ooh.. i wanted to get those mat also but no place to put in my house! lol. at times i simply put her on the carpet on the flr..

your alicia sleeps so late ? my girl sleeps at 8.30-9.30pm everyday...6hrs very good .. if my girl can sleep 6hrs stretch everyday now i very happy lol. but then after 6mths old she sleeps only 3-4hrs stretch .. hai~ im thinking if i should give her solid late at night eg 1hr before her bedtime to make her full then maybe can sleep longer? but my mum say better not cos cannot digest. hmm.. cannot digest then what will happen? stomach wind?

yeah, not so good to feed solids too late at nite before their bedtime coz if the food can't digest properly they'll have some stomach discomfort..
