Hi mummies, as mention above, I'd ran out of ideas on what to add in my son's porridge.
Had tried: carrot+potatoes+thread fin. (He dont like)
: Porridge+thread fin+ bananas
: Carrot+Pork stock+Broccoli
: thread fin+sweet potatoes
Im going to let him try pumpkins porridge this later afternoon.
What other ingredients can I add in?? Think ht eat until Sian. Nowadays he doesn't want to open his mouth when comes to porridge time. But for fruits like pear and apples or bananas, he will open his mouth.
Advise pls, mummies.....
actually you can let him try spinach, tofu, egg yolk. and not necessary to have porridge daily, somemore for 2 meals per day. you should ask your mother in law, what if she is given 2 meals porridge daily, is she able to eat that daily? hahahaha!
apollo mummy, any specific kind of tofu? I told mother in law the exact thing you said. She said, we adult also eat rice everyday. Porridge everyday for baby is ok. Because theres nothing else for em to eat. Her theory is.... Human must eat grains to be healthy and strong. (-.-) The world most stubborn mother in law!
I added cereal into sons porridge for better taste. He's starting to open his mouth! Son can take egg yolk now?
Yippiehan mummy, you really throw everything in? If theres fish, I wont put chicken. But I will try your menu tml.. =)
Alot of veggie can intro.. spinach, cabbage, lettuces, peas , potatoes, pumpkin ..
you can put both fish n meat for in your child porridge for a better taste.
My boy also have porridge 2 meal a day like yours..
he is fine wih it some more he love it.
I cooked different veggie and fish daily so he wont "SIANZ" with it.
Now he grew up change to rice in his dinner .
ehh i started dear son with egg yolke when he was 9mth+. actually can start as early as 8mths. you can cook hard boiled egg, then smash the yolk add into his porridge. as for eegg white, can only start after 1yo.

Urm, actually, I dont't eat rice every day or for every meal. I realized that the Asian approach of eating one grain all the time can be quite unhealthy. The current US food pyramid advocates that at least half of your carbo should be wholegrain and that your carb intake should be varied - meaning you eat not just rice but bread, pasta, noodles, naan, chapati, etc.
I prefer the European/French approach whereby every meal is different and there is a balance of carbs, veg/fruit, meat and oils. If you give me porridge twice daily, I'll totally refuse and go bonker by the end of day 2 so what more a baby who is naturally more spirited and adventurous.
As for what to give a 6 month old, I have given yogurt, puree with cereal (fruit or veg), tofu with veg, etc. My daughter never eats the same thing twice in a row and I feel that's one of the reasons why she's very open to food.

since your son is having 2 meals per day, you can consider to give 1 meal cereal and meal porridge instead of both porridge. afterall cereal and porridge have diffe textures. and for 6mth old there are many types of cereal to choose from. you can consider haapybellies =)
