Hi all , I have looked through the threads already and as I read on I have quite a few questions of my own. Any comments of Budget Maid Agency? And even other recommendations?
Am thinking of employing a helper.
Does anyone have any tips for a first time employer like myself?
Thinking of getting a Myanmar maid, however I dont see very many positive comments. Is there no way about it? Or perhaps tips if eventually I really take on a Myanmar maid?
They are a christian company. Can try. Pathway88 64638842
Thanks for the comments. Will continue to pray for wisdom on this issue on topics like which agency and all that as I do see many posts against maid hiring. In the meantime I do continue to hope that more will share their experiences and even tips on maid handling for first timers like myself.
Thanks one again and in advance..
A maid agency will be able to tell you the requirement for being a first time employer. Being a first time employer, you need to attend lesson/test by the MOM.
Two years back, I have tried to use Myanmar maid as I heard that they are more hardworking and committed.
I have tried three in total but finally had to give up.
The first lady was a Christian, she is a soft spoken lady. In term of personality, she is trustworthy and in fact now that my current Filipino maid is leaving, I do not mind having her back – but she has already left for home.
The reason why I was not able to keep her then as we had intended for her to look after our new born and she is just too fragile for the job.
1) cannot take car ride, have motion sickness – how to bring baby for injection
2) at that point of time my baby has not arrived, she only needs to do housework as my girl goes to the childcare during day time. But she is already so exhausted by the evening that she has to put medicated oil almost every night – how to cope with night feeding?
3) we are rather particularly about hygiene but while she was cooking, she likes to scratch her armpit. My hubby can’t take it so……..
4) Communication problem, have to write everything as she dont’t understand when we speak – told her to give my girl medicine she seems to understand and mistaken for something else
Due to culture difference, you have to be prepared and must be very patient with them. Firstly the language barrier, secondly they are not good with electric stuff. The family was feeling funny as dont’t know for what reason our bodies start to itch. Little do we expect that the maid wash the clothing without rinsing them until we told her to demonstrate to us how she uses the washing machine. We have told her to write down the steps and guide her for a few times making sure that she gets it right before leaving it to her on she own but not sure why and when she start to miss the rinsing part? Lots of other experiences…….. First asked yourself the purpose of engaging a helper, if is to look after new born but think twice.
The second Myanmar maid stay with us for one week, almost everyday I have high blood pressure ……….. and the third one was a transfer maid, even my girl childcare teacher told me she is not reliable, always missing in action and stay in the toilet for long hours. Spoiled many house items including curtain, kitchen cabinets, pants, ironing board ……….. So finally we decided to switch to Filipino and thank God, she starts to take care of my baby from day one.
Whether is a Mynamar or Filipino, there are good ones and not so good ones, so do pray about it.
Agency is very important, source for a good and reliable one, the one that we got the Myanmar mind is terrible, very irresponsible (not cheap one) whereas the one that we had our Filipino was good but they are more expensive
thanks for your sharing i know about the requirements so far and to me it's more of the handling part that i am not so confident. i do agree with you that there will always be good and bad helpers irregardless of nationality, i guess i just wanted some sharing from ppl like yourself who has the experience and thus probably be able to give me some practical tips. Do you mind sharing with me the agencies you approached so far?
If not convenient to reveal pls do pm me. And if possible maybe also your own views on those agencies. Cos i realised that not all agencies bring in myanmar maids and there are some pretty pricey ones around...i hope i m not inconvenincing you to ask you to share so much though..thanks a lot.
