My maid is suppose to be here first week of July to take over my consignment lady but has arrived earlier than expected.
So, I am wondering who has a confinement lady and maid at the same time. How do you distribute their scope of duties?
I am afraid that my confinement lady will take advantage of the situation and push everything to my maid.
(On a side note: My maid is a new maid without any domestic work experience other than in her own country.)
Frankly speaking, to let a new maid look after baby is a scary thought. I was in your shoes earlier. My maid came 2 months earlier before my twin were born. She is ok with housework (no prior baby care exp before) so i bought bks for her to read on taking care of babies. When my twins were born, my confinement lady came and tried to show her the ropes, then i realised that maid is not suitable to look after. She can't even carry the baby correctly and no sense of cleanliness or priority. She kept forgeting to do this or that. SO i strongly suggest you train her personally and observe carefully on how she does things. dont't trust or rely too much on them. I am having problems now as mine is a hopeless case in terms of baby care.
thanks for the advise. I share your sentiments and sending my maid back too. My maid has 7 children but yet she still does not have knowledge of taking care of baby. When I told her to give my baby some warm water, she came with hot water! On another occasion when I told her to run the milk bottle with tap water so that the milk is not too hot for baby to drink, she came back with the milk turning cold! And, she likes to sweep and tidy baby's room when baby is still in the room. So, I have been reinforcing her the idea that "baby skin is sensitive" but she is like your maid - keep forgetting!
So, I will now take care of my precious one myself and find other care giver alternative when I return work.
