Major dept stores have. If not try, bricksworld. They are a lego specialist chain of shops. There's 1 in Plaza Singapura Level 3 and 1 in Ngee Ann City on the same floor as Best Denki, Level 5 I think.

Price depends on how big a set you choose. I think the basic ones start from abt $20+ for a small container. I bought the Duplo Ville sets for my gal when she was abt that age. More interesting cos there's the characters and building sets as well as vehicles.

One of the reasons why Lego is very expensive is bcos of their technology. You can buy 10 - 20 boxes of lego bricks and from different batches, but all of their bricks still clip onto one another very properly and without protuding edges, unlike some others.

For a cheaper alternative, go for Megabloks. Also avail in mega dept stores and got syndicated characters like Dora, Disney Princess, etc too. But I personally feel that Megabloks bricks don't hold together as well as Lego.

i bought 2 boxes of megabloks for son when he was younger, he love them to bits! now at 3yrs old I bought the creative puzzle for him instead. He still love his megabloks but creative puzzle is more fun.

Lego sizes their bricks accordingly to age too. Try the Duplo sets. They are meant for toddlers with their big bricks and no moving parts. For older toddlers, you can go for the Duplo Ville Sets. I went crazy then and bought almost the entire Town.

If I didn't remember wrongly, there's also a shop in Thomson Plaza that specialise in Lego sets. It's on the 1st floor, opp. POSB Bank, same side as Bata.

I love my Lego sets. My mom kept the sets that we played with when we were young and they still clip nicely and hold properly (though scratched and not as glossy) with the new ones I bought for my gal.

My son preferred Lego to Megabloks too when he started playing with them a few mths back. Probably the sound produced when he threw the bricks is different.

Haahaa, that's his way of playing with them initially.

Carrefour should have the basic Duplo sets. But not too sure if they carry those characters type. If you are not in a hurry, then go window shop 1st. Otherwise, refer to newspapers and check out if there are sales for Lego sets anywhere.

i think toy r u is having some mid-yr sale. they shld have a good collection of lego/similar brick-building toys.

giving your kids lego to play with is a good way to build ur their imagination and creativity. always see them coming up with different stories/scenarios with all the people/buildings/animals. :tlaugh:
