Restored under its specially curated programme, Asian Restored Classics (ARC) 2016, Asian Film Archive (AFA) will be premiering the timeless Gado Gado and A Better Tomorrow at the Capitol Theatre on 27 August, along with five other Asian masterpieces.
Filled with historical milestones, Gado Gado is the only musical variety short film from the Cathay-Keris catalogue and is one of the 91 surviving Malay classics film titles made during Singapore’s Golden Cinema era from 1950s – 1970s. While John Woo ushered in the genre of the heroic bloodshed with A Better Tomorrow and redefined Hong Kong cinema for audiences worldwide.
Other films to be showcased include: Dragon Inn (25 August, 8pm), RAN (26 August, 8pm), Kakabakaba Ka ? (Does your heart beat faster?) (27 August, 3.50pm), Tosuni: The Birth of Happiness (28 August, 2pm), Charulata (28 August, 5pm).
