Hi,

anyone care to share did you go to PD/GP for your baby's development? As my girl is past 1 month i think we'll not be able to visit the polyclinic for immunisation?

I read people usually visit PD for more serious illness less so for immunisation, and some for baby less than 1/2 years old?

Also, if PD, what is the name of your PD, which branch?
How much is for a normal consultation, assuming not visiting bcos of any illness?

Thanks much!

Hi JazN, for me I normally bring my baby gal to the PD for her development. She is seeing Dr Zainal over at Rivervale Plaza and Dr E K Ong from TMC. The consultation charges are the same, $55.

PD is better bcos they r specialised in treating babies n kids.
their consultation fees r definately much more expensive than normal GPs.
think most range from 50-90 per visit, not inclusive of medication, n prices also depend on which n where your PD is located.
for my case, im seeing a GP, but he used to specialise in kids,n hv been seeing him since i was young, so im quite comfortable.
his charges are as of normal GP rates.

i bring my ds to TMC - Dr EK Ong... 1st time consultaion $80 sub is ard $60 if i'm not wrong... brought him to other pd before but both hubby and me still feel that Dr Ong is more detailed... as for injection, initially we brought him to polyclinic for 2nd hep b but after seeing how the GP there check him, we're disappointed.. no choice, there're not specialise in babies.. so decided to bring him bk to his pd for future injections..

we are using Angeline's Baby and Child Clinic at Marsiling. She was recommended by Gynae and had been with us since daughter's birth.

her consultation is $45. so far so good with her, patient and always willing to answer any question. :)

We bring our son to Paediatric and Family medical centre at Tampines..
initially was seeing Dr Lilian from Rivervale but she is so busy and forever cannot get appointment w her so no choice we switched docs..

But I duno what sort of developmental issues to see PD about leh... so far only went once for vaccination (my son is now only abt 3mos old)..During that visit she asked whether he can smile at us, can make cooing and gurgling sounds etc... I suppose that;s the development check?
His next appt is end of Aug

Does your injections come in a package or ala carte? How much did you pay?

u mean polyclinic or pd? polyclinic got package for 5 and 6in1.. 6in1 is $320...

pd don't have.. each injection is $120, after adding consultation shd be ard $180-$200 if I'm not wrong...

Haven bring ds to his 5in1 yet but that is the prices the nurses from both polyclinic and pd gave :001_302:

How often did you bring your baby to the pediatrician? As per baby's development health booklet?
don't have to.. everytime you bring your baby for injection, they will check... even to polyclinic, the nurses will ask you..

the differences is:
at polyclinic: the nurse ask me to tick the box on my own, gp check for babies
PD: i saw the nurse asking parents regarding their development and tick for them, and pd check for babies

ya i usually follow wht the booklet says. Was seeing paeds at Raffles hospital but the nurses in the paeds clinic r not nice.Dr expensive never mind..but ah crappy service after paying so much..so not worth it!!!Will be bringing baby to Dr simon Ng at Mt Alvernia fr now on.He is very thorough with his check on baby n gives his own injections.N so far my 2 elder kids have never once cried during their vaccinations with him.Guess he knows exactly where to inject.
I remember once to save money i brought my elder son to polyclinic for his baby jab n the nurse ah anyhow jab n he was howling!!So not worth the savings!!Some paeds give their own jabs n some ask nurses.I rather the dr give the jab.

yup, that time brought ds to polyclinic, the nurse is good but the gp not good...

i thought pd give the injection on their own?? cause most of the staffs there are actually "clinic assistant" and NOT real nurses.. haha... ds going to have his injection next mth, i so excited!!! :001_302:

I go to pediatrician for my son development till he was 1 yrs old. now I switch to a GP for his general sickness, when his sickness dont goes well in 5 days I will go back to the pediatrician. I dont trust polyclinic for the immunisation (sorry to say that) cos I did saw a nurse doing it on baby not able to find the right spot jab the poor baby again & again, can you imagine that .... my pediatrician jab my boy so fast i dont even know is done ... haha that's why till date I still goes back to him for immunisation. I dont mind paying more to go pediatrician for the jab as long as I know my kid is in good hand.

I cant remember how much I paid for my 6 in 1, i think is about $160++. anyway i dont lose anything as my pediatrician after jab gives me a tin (900g) of formula milk for free. this i save some $ as 1 tin 900g for newborn costed about $29.90 based on supermarket rate. His consulation charges, i think is about $40-50.

If you like to c him this is his details :

Dr Ho Chin Seng
Australia Clinic
225 Upper Thomson Rd Singapore 574357
Contact : 64521205

Guess what nickname my mum give him ... "gangster doctor' 流氓医生
